For those of you who have it, try putting on the first disc of Aphex Twin's Drukqs on while playing HL 2, starting from when you down the Gunship at the lighthouse. Cool techno tracks all the way through the rest of sandtraps... and when I got into Nova Prospect (prison cells and all), I had the coincidence of being on a really creepy, ambient track called Gwarek2, which includes screams and ominous sounds. Trippy experience.

Everyone loves the great music of Half-Life 2, which can really get the blood flowing during Close-Quarters combat. Do any of you guys put on extra music while playing?

Just wondering...

I'm super-picky about music in video games. In my opinion, F.E.A.R. had good music - Half Life 2s music didn't impress me. Episode 1s music, however, sounds very good. Can't wait to play! I don't put on music while playing a game myself. Maybe if it was a fragfest like Serious Sam.

When i do Multiplayer on Dystopia or Gears i'll sometimes throw on custom soundtracks.

HL2's soundtrack was good and bad...some tracks were pretty annoying while others were awesome and fit well in the game.

I know the tracks you're talking about and that's awesome, must have fit perfectly for that map :P

Half-Life 2 music was hit and miss, yeah. Halo's music is surprisingly epic (I can't get past a string quartet in a combat game... it's just so... good...)

You (use to) play Serious Sam? That was a truly awsome game. :bounce:

where does half life 2 music come from? the cool techno tracks and all...

Custom-made, duh.

Most game music is.

If you mean in-game, probably from Gordon's inbuilt MP3.

I personally play the System Shock soundtrack when playing Dystopia. Just can't hack in cyberspace without those mid nineties midi files.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one listening to different music while playing. :D

Try Sex. I hear it's great.

I'm really starting to not like this guy.

I'll usually throw on some custom stuff when I play Gears of War.

I threw the Halo 2 soundtrack on while I was playing HL2. Its not that great of a mix, I'm expecting to see grunts around corners for some reason. I wouldn't try mixing music from different games.

<old man story>

A long time ago, before my computer had an internet connection, (only the downstairs computer had anything), I played through Half-life 1 for the first time, after being introduced to Counterstrike shortly before (I want to say Beta 4?). I loved the HL2 soundtrack. That summer I played through the game several times, and for quite a bit of the runthroughs, I played Tool's album "Lateralus". Now whenever I listen to any songs from that album (especially the more ambient ones like Mantra), I instantly think of Half-life. :)
