sometimes, the game just quits?

so sometimes i play hl2DM or watch my friend pretend waiting to respawn is fun in CS:S. and the game crashes me to my desktop in less than a second. no jerking at all beforehand, just as if I had pressed alt-f4 out of spite. funny thing is that when this happens, steam is always still alive and kicking. all I gotta do is load the game again. sometimes it will do it sometimes not. never happened in HL2 the three times i've completed it. I almost think it has something to do with a lack of memory, which would be rather curious (look below.)

I don't get an error message at all, like memory couldn't be read i don't get anything like that. just a clean, perfect crash haha. a clue?

It is the mem error but with no dialogue box. Thats what I get. Daily.

How do you know it's the mem error? I crash like that pretty often, although in my case, the screen freezes, the sound last played is looped back for a roughly a second after which i crash, no error message, no nothing. There are plenty of people who have the same problem. Funny thing is, sometimes it happens to several people on a server at exactly the same time. Doubt that's a memory error (which i have never gotten)

I'm assuming people either get the error box or don't. I get the error sound but never a box. My sound loops until it quits to desktop, I understood people who get the box got the same thing.

Plus its only hl2 that ever crashes on my box.
