Ennio Morricone's Ecstasy of Gold.

"They Don't Sleep Anymore on the Beach" by Godspeed You Black Emperor. The whole song is great, but when the song hits around 18 minutes, it's some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard - if not the most. It's so moving I have no choice but to close my eyes and let it consume me every time I hear it.

Velvet Underground - Sweet Jane

i hear that. strange story behind why i think sweet jane is one of those special songs

no-one will probably care but what the ****, who cares who am i harming telling it

i moved away from my place of growing up if you will which means my 'childhood' friends and all that bollocks....anyhow, i used to visit one of me mates from where i used to live after moving away a few miles away and his dad give me a lift back from his. just me and his dad

he was like have you ever heard of the velvet underground and i was like yeah, don't know them too well though and he went listen to this and slapped a cd of velvet underground on and skipped to sweet jane....it had memories to him in someway about meeting his missus...

i was blown away by it....and its just sat with me as an absolutley ****ing amazing tunes from then

maybe just because it reminds me of a good time and that it meant so much to someone else....and simply because its a brilliant tune

I can relate to that - these things often go hand in hand.

Some songs just strike you as being right for the time you're in. Sweet Jane quickly became an anthem for me and my friends in our later teenage years. It's often described as being completely unprentious, which is quite rare on a rock song, and is just ****ing awesome in so many ways :)
