Sony: Move over black here comes white

Don't know why, but I'm strongly reminded of the Ocarina of Time TV ad, and the reaction it got:

"Will thou get the girl, or play like one?"

Sexist, racist.... what's the difference?

here goes stern with his 'white' bs again. trying to cause a big scene. Is it even remotely possible the advertising guys didn't really think it was racist when they made it??...maybe just maybe that could be true.

oh dear god ****ing shut up already with the racism shit ..you really are a half-wit

No you stfu...Im tired of your bs. Take your double standards and shove them somewhere. I'm baffled at how you can have such ridiculous double standards!!!

I am sorry, man... but your command of the English language is truly astonishing. Surely thou art a poet or bard!

It doesn't matter what their intention was, the ad is clearly racist. The first one, taken out of context, clearly shows a defiant and superior white person looking down upon a frightened black person. Sony will get sued if they promote this ad. They could have just as easily put a white person in black clothing or put two stick figures or something less offensive, but instead they chose the ad for shock value. It's sickening, it isn't "silly" it's truly disgusting.

omfg

I agree with you figgy cheese....but im sorry I can't help but have angry outbursts when I see this crap. Stern calling people racist....maybe the ad wasnt intended to be racist is what Im saying!!! And then he tells me to '****ing shut up' and im 'a half-wit'. I'm trying to make a difference here, try to reduce racism. Its kind of hard when we have someone here trying to stir up s**t about an ad that was probably never meant to be racist. I think all the races should share the earth yeah 100%. The racism needs to cease!!! Whether its anti black, anti white, anti asian, ect...thats all I got to say.

And stern I could do without u disrespecting me just because I have a different opinion then you. That would be nice thanks.

As for the guy who critisized my english usage, all I have to say is this is an internet forum not english class. You shouldn't expect people to spell and write perfectly on an internet forum.

If someone had a product called 'Gay' and a newer product called 'Straight', would there be as much outcry if an ad showed a straight man, er, manhandling a gay man saying, "Move over Gay. Its time for Straight."? I guess they don't have an ACLU in Belgium?

This ad out of context wouldn't be so offensive at all (apart from the implied abuse), but when they deliberately add the race card to it in no uncertain terms, it crosses the line to being offensive and damaging material. This is part of the reason we have such problems in our society--everywhere we look its some corporation telling us to think of others differently and not as fellow human beings at all. Such a shame...;(

for the last freakin time I AM WHITE <- blantant racism ftw

btw please point out where I said the ad was racist

sure people will consider it racist
but to me is not that racist

I think it will hav looked better if it was a white woman full dressed in black clothes and a black woman dressed in white clothes

If you notice the 2nd pic, it has the black woman manhandling the white woman. But that's besides the point, the ad was created to stir up emotions and draw attention, it's done exactly that.

Those ads are disturbing regardless of race.
What the heck.

Anyway, I thought it was a black guy too.

Where did Stern say it was racist? Nowhere :p
Also, you're saying that the ad isn't racist.

But suddenly here you accept that it is racist! No wait, you're saying that Stern is racist. Which he is not.

He wasn't stirring shit up, he just stated a fact: The ads are supposed to have shock value. Check the Benetton ads as he said, they are a prime example of this.

Can't really say something about this except that I agree :p

He has the same opinion as you, he just added to it that the ads indeed have shock value, not that they're racist.

P.S.: God damn, Stern, how can you reply like this? I get so damn confused by all these damn quotes :|

EDIT: Aww yeah.

What the ****. This is worse than... nevermind.

I agree with Stern about the Sony ad - the ad itself is not racist at all, but I think Sony are counting on SOME people thinking it is, and then they'll benefit off the ensuing publicity storm. Very clever actually. Can't say it makes me want to buy a PSP though.

I feel more like beating down some black ho's.

Wow, that sounded like Dalamari there.

I don't think it's a clever campaign at all. Shock campaigns are very easy to come up with. It just shows how desperate Sony is, any attention will do.

Oh and I'm not offended by this at all. People who are could always ask Beerdude to unleash hell on these ads, he lives in Belgium :)

If you look at that ad and see racism then you are being racist. You are seeing that ad as a white girl showing dominate over a black guy and that there is something wrong with that. If you arn't racist shouldn't see anything wrong with that. That just because it's a white woman and a black guy....yeah who cares?

Really it's just clever advertising.

South Park did a great episode about racism. Remember South Parks national flag? Stick figures where one was the color black being hung and a bunch of white stick figures pointing and smiling. Then Chef wanted it changed and they came up with a new one where it was a black colored stick figure being hung and every other stick figure were different colors pointing and smiling.

So there is a big conflict between all the white people wanting the flag because well it's there flag it shouldn't have to be changed. No one seen racism in it but Chef. At the end of the show Chef finally realized this that he was the only racist one.

People who see racism are infact racist. A person who could look at a picture and see 5 black guys putting a white man through more torture than anything imaginable...and sees nothing wrong with 5 black men torturing a white man (minus someone is being tortured obviously) in the picture is not racist. The man who sees that picture and thinks "That is racist" is racist.

The only way for racism to end is for people to stop thinking "There isn't a black person at there school THEY'RE DISCRIMINATING AGAINST BLACK PEOPLE!! OMG!!"

It's about time the blacks moved over for the whites!

I hear this happening a lot with black people - they get, say, arrested or something for some reason. They claim it's because they're black and the cop is a racist. No, it's because you were causing some kind of trouble, and you're the only one who is racist.

Idiots.
This pisses me off most. Some punk-ass kids annoy you, they spit on your bike and you tell them to **** off. Then they call you racist.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

I'll bitchslap your damn asses all the way back to your original spawning location, be it Uzbekistan, The Netherlands or Belgium, just gtfo out of my country, you bloody racists.

IT'S NOT A GUY, IT'S A WOMAN.

God...

I think the ads are hot and sexy.

That, and some people are dumbcraps.

Of course, what sony fails to realize is that half of any image's meaning comes from how it is interpreted by a viewer.
Lezzers?

any of you have long hair? I mean long metalhead hair? ...well I did as a teen and I got harrassed by cops constantly (pushed around and given a punch or two) ..but once I cut it to a more respectable length guess what? no more harrassing cops. Ever drive real slowly by a very expensive neighbourhood (in 10's of millions) ..try it next time ..and bring a stopwatch so you can time how fast the cops get there ..that's how a lot of minorities live on a daily basis ..sure the excuse of "racism" is often unwarrented but sometimes it isnt ...did you know lenny kravitz cant get a taxi in new york? so couldnt Danny Glover

Stern it was only because you were a poor black child as a kid.

I think it would have been better if sony actually showed their product in comparison to the other one, rather than showing people. I'm in shock how many people are actually okay with this add, and rationalize it, or even think its funny. If it ran here, heads would roll. It would be in the news, there would be massive lawsuits.

The entire point of the entire advertising campaign is
"white is better than black, buy white" which would be okay, if they actully showed the black psp in comparison to the white one. Instead, they show two people, so the message of the ad instantly becomes
"white people are better than black people, buy white stuff".

You think I'm racist for seeing the blatant racist qualities of this ad? Then I feel terribly sorry for you and others like you, who rationalize blatant racism and call others racist for pointing it out.

When I look at the ad, the first thing to my mind is NOT anything racial. I think if you look at it and the first thing you see is something racist, then you are being too anti-racist or you are yourself racist.

Why can't everyone see things innocently rather than always looking for a negative in everything?

they're saying "white is in"... because their product is white. it inheritly has nothing to do with race. they're simply stating that the new trend is the 'white' playstation. if they chose blue, they would of done that too, but in this case its white and it was a cool idea to use people as metaphors.
