http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=249727Sony Computer Entertainment and Square Enix are being sued over allegations that Final Fantasy XIII is crashing and permanently bricking PS3 consoles.
Daniel Wolf of San Diego claims that his copy of Square's RPG rendered his machine inoperable after he tried to save his campaign progress and his console crashed. The lawsuit claims that the game has been causing "severe and widespread damage" to PS3s, and seeks over $5 million in damages and various financial relief.
Wolf says Sony offered to fix his console for $270.
http://www.courthousenews.com/2010/06/04/27817.htmThe class claims Sony and Square Enix, which makes Final Fantasy XIII, "are eminently aware of the damage being caused by their defective products, and have chosen to do nothing about it," though both companies "have been deluged with consumer complaints" since the game was released in March this year.
The companies have blamed each other for the problem, and neither has recalled the game or the PS3, or disseminated a fix for the defective products, according to the complaint.
