Well, perhaps it's both. But regardless of the cost, I think it's predominantly guerilla marketing, because their advertisements are masquerading as consumer opinions and community-created media.Viral Marketing (ARGs) can be low budget to, which is pretty much the line you made between Viral and Guerilla marketing.
Sony did this by using the idea of an existing social network, (Youtube) just basically recreating it and putting in biased videos of one of their products.
What Sony did is Viral Marketing, not Guerilla Marketing
