Yes, this is what I recall to be true.I believe that they said it was the end of this story arc, but more is to come for Gordon in the future.
Half life 3?
If you ask me, I'll say yes.
i just hope that the end of the story arc doesnt mean no more alyx
Half life is Valve's money cow. No way they are ending it.

Who's to say the whole thing will be on board the Borealis?i doubt they will end it off in episode 3 or at least they will have to make it as long as half life 2 to cover the ground it will take to cover this story arc!! so what is gordon freeman going to kill off the combine i can't see him doing it all on the borealis.

I'd imagine the game will either be released this christmas or next April. I'd reckon the reason they are taking so long to release media or info is because they are having a tough time to decide whether or not implementing pieces of technology is necessary to supplement a story element, or whether to change a part of story to save on development time and costs (because lets face it, if you wanted a 50kmx50km map to make a helicopter ride more believeable, then you would have to change fundamental elements of the SourceSDK to accomodate editing on that scale)
If you do get a response, tell us.Probably this. They are also taking their time because Episode Two was probably rushed at least a tiny bit (by Valve standards) because they needed to make the deadline for the Orange Box. Because Episode Three will probably be released as a stand-alone product, they do not have as much pressure to finish it because it doesn't have to be attached to two other products that are also being rushed to meet deadlines.
However, nothing can excuse the (IMO) appalling lack of even a single status update for over a year and a half since the release of the Orange Box. It's gotten past building the suspense and anticipation, and it seems now that a lot of fans are getting irritated and discouraged at the lack of a single bit of new information. I myself am becoming apathetic to Episode Three because of Valve's decision to be completely silent about its progress. I understand that they were unhappy about releasing trailers on Episode Two because certain story elements were changed in the final game, but come on people. A simple "we are working hard, progress is going forward" or something like that would be more than sufficient for me at least.
I am going to forward this paragraph to Gabe himself, and although I doubt I'll get a response, I feel like I owe it to them to let them know how a lot of people feel about this issue.
Developer Valve said it will be the last episode in the currently planned story arc, but it will not be the end of the Half-Life franchise, so Half-Life 2: Episode 4 or in a way Half-Life 3 might be entirely possible.
i do believe ive heard this too.

I'd be pissed if they just got rid of every single character other than Gordon for HL3.
