sound missing in hl2 episode 2

hi all ...well in new in the forum but i play all hl series long time ago...i have a problem with sound..i miss the voices of the npc and others sound like the engine of the car..i miss the sound in the level 2(the vortigaum conrade voice and other sound..steps...ect)...any idea? can someone help me? thx in advance and sorry for my bad english

yes...is a legal copy...i have the orange box pack.....
