Source Engine Update Released

A Source Engine update is available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The change includes:

• Fixed clients being able to kick other clients from a server

There was also a news post last night on the Steam website hoping you're all enjoying HL2: DM. I know we are!

Too bad the Pistol Bug still seems to be in effect. Hopefully they nip that one soon, so it doesn't become expected functionality like bunny hopping in HL1.

anyone else notice the horrible network code for HL2 DM? i mean for ever server i play on its super choppy, and don't say its my pc cause CS source and HL2 run flawlessly... another crappy valve release, if they wanted to release an actual suprise they should have released TF or DOD. something people will actually play, 2 small unoriginal maps with 3 weapons and a gravity gun is frigging boring, either your killed by a bunny hoping machine gun nub or your killed by a flaming barrel.. so stupid

i think its bc hardly any servers are deticated, I noticed a lot of them where started from peoples machenes.

because all that happens when i join a server is i get the green loading thing and it seems to freeze.!

Find a good server and the game isnt laggy at all.... its just a shame there are too few of them

Yeah, I found a pretty lag-free server yesterday and it was great fun.

the server situation starts to get better. more low ping servers.
and it's hard to stop playing, when you have something like hl2dm. some hours ago, i actually wanted to play just a bit.. but well.. that changed.. hehe..

Impossible to stop playing! It's so addictive and ridiculously fun. I don't think in 4 hours I used any weapon besides the Grav Gun, either.

I like MP too, i have a average ping of 45 wich is not bad.

Last i heard an actual surprise doesnt have to be good, just unexpected which HL2DM was by most. Also, 3 weapons??

What would you prefer to be killed by? Personally, I was killed by machine guns, pulse rifles, plumbing fixtures, plastic pails, grenades (though I'm getting better at chucking them back), rocket launchers, radiators, office furniture, crossbow bolts, a few cars, .357 magnum rounds, and my own foolishness as I ran around carrying an explosive barrel for just a *little* too long.

A few servers I was on were laggy, but I settled into several that played just great. Some more maps would be nice and I'm sure they'll arrive soon; for now, I'm finding this a heck of a lot of fun.

I guess HL2 Deathmatch just isn't for everyone, but what is? In the meantime, if bunny hopping n00bs have got you down, I find that anything from a six foot table to a well-thrown file cabinet deals with them quite nicely.

played hl2dm last night for ages and loved it, found a server which gave me an excellent ping. I found, but dont know if its true is the better ping also seemed to improve my FPS heaps according to cl_showfps 1
love itttttt be interesting how it plays on LAN without dedicated tonight!

if valve is so crappy why do you keep playing their games? lol, just wondering... i get tired of the constant bickering in life, of why someone doesnt like something but wont do anything about it, best way to stand up is to not buy their products...
i personally really like valve, and their products. id much rather be playing this than call of duty, or battlefield, or some other game like that (although farcry is pretty cool, but hl2 kind of ran over that )

yay! maybe in 2006 they'll get around to fixing my choppy, distorted sound (that's if i'm lucky enough to actually sustain sound for longer than 4 seconds in-game)
