I'm sure it must but haven't seen it on any specs for the engine....Does it support EAX at all?

That kinda sux...Not that their own thing sucks but I was looking forward to developing some EAX presets I'll have to see what they use.

well, when i changed from onboard audio to the Audigy ZS i certainly noticed environmental effects that weren't there before, i'm fairly sure it does support EAX since i asked the same thing before i bought and got a resounding yes.

anyways, if it's an audigy you're going for the game will sound stunning:)

HL1 certainly supports it, since if you play with the console on it comes up with "EAX preset ##" when you eneter a new area, i doubt they'd have left it out of the second one

You may have noticed a difference because of the 5.1. Did your other card support surround? I can't see them not having it in. Most games now are using EAX 2.0 and higher. But ya...they may have their own thing going or using something else.

just done a google search, source uses it's own proprietory DSP which runs on your sound card's cpu, so it's like having eax but it doesn't use the eax parts of the card

my old card was onboard, as in on the motherboard, and ran 5.1, now i run 6.1 but thats not the difference i notice most.

hmmm...that's interesting that it uses your sound card. I don't even think my card would support that. It's PCI but it's a delta 1010 for recording.

The sound is very good in-game, thats all that matters to me. :)

I actually never missed the lack of EAX because VALVe's DSP sounds just as fine!!

I'm sure you could tweak it to your hearts content :)

Agreed...it sounds awesome. Let's hope there's some tweaking abilities to mess with.
