South Dakota Abortion Ban Signed Into Law

And now the South Dakotan government has control over every impregnated woman in South Dakota. So much for freedom.
 
They're certainly hampering it, but not totally destroying it.

Let's look at a few things here.

South Dakota is predominantly a state full of people of the religion Christianity. They have what, 2 abortions a year? Yeah. This isn't affecting much. Of course, it could inspire more states to do it and that's what you gotta watch out for.

Honestly this is bad, as it gives motivation to other such "god warriors". Hopefully the Supreme Court will be all over this, while pissed.

That is a completely harsh generalization to make.

I am sure that the entire state has plenty of non-Christians and plenty of Christians that would have an abortion...

I dont agree with this. They should allow exceptions in cases of rape/incest and where the mothers health is at risk. This is pretty bad...

Does the baby have a chance to live? That's a chance you have to give.


I'm tired of debating the ethics of abortiong, the above two sentences basically summarize my stance.

EDIT-

Life is such a precious thing, so easily destroyed. I can't image why anyone would forgoe the chance to bring more life into the world. People are responsible, for the most part, for where they end up in life:through the various choices and decisions they make, now whatever the intentions, I just can't condone somethign that takes away all they days that could have been lived, all the things that could have been done.

I'm sure the babies who enter the world in a vegitative state and/or a state of paralysis appreciate your thoughts that they should have to go through their states of various medical decay, just because some (usually religious) "right to life" (Is that a right to a "good and happy" life, or is it just the right to life itself ?) person is in power at the time.

I have to say, personally, I don't particularly like the idea of abortion being used as a leisure "morning after" pill for those who couldn't be bothered protecting themselves during the act (as for those who used - every - percieveable pre-caution ... well ... that's a different story, I've got more sympathy for them), as well as late term abortions, due to the fact that the baby is almost undoubtably a human being by that point.

The religious knee-jerk reaction of "ban all abortions" is not helping anything, barring, as mentioned before in this thread, the black-alley abortion trade.

It still is potentially a baby. If it is healthy and was conceived by accident then it should be put up for adoption. There are too many parents that cant have a child to let a careless person kill a baby they potentially could raise.

So someone like sadam who has commited crimes against humanity is free to live the rest of his days while an unborn baby that will be put into loving parents arms is killed because people were either careless or don't want to have to bear the baby until it is born.

So now the choice to murder babies is up to women because it is their baby thats being murdered? Does that mean I can have my family eliminated because it is my family and therefor my choice?
 
glirk please stop ..you cant compare a lump of cells to a living breathing human being ...most abortions are performed within the first 4-6 weeks when the baby is 1/5 of an inch long ..or about the size of a grain of rice ..if you can successfully argue that that is a human being when scientists, theologians havent been able to determine that then I will make a complete about face.

again Glirk I ask you ..and I want a straight answer:

should the state have the right to force you to keep your child alive to full term even though there is 100% certainty that it will die at birth or that it is so severly handicapped that each living breathing day will be a struggle full of pain and misery? I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy
