They think they're boldly going where no one has gone before, orbiting the Earth for five days when in fact their giant leap is taking place in an elaborate set in a disused aircraft hanger in Suffolk. Is it all systems go or will they realise the closest they're going to get to mars is the chocolate bar in the nearest service station?

First show was today, looks pretty promising.

Missed it, was watching Threshold on SkyOne, they must know that they are not off the ground, otherwise they are idiots (do they really believe artificial-gravity exists)

They haven't got that far, they've been told what's going to happen and just got in a plane that's going to circle around for a few hours then land back in Suffolk. Fabulous!

Quite promising. But at seeing their reactions at being told they were 'going into space' I couldn't help thinking it's even crueller than reality TV normally is. :(

About halfway through, I saw the shuttle rig and the impossibility and absurdity of the whole thing hit me and I just thought 'jesus christ. How the flying f*ck are they going to pull this shit off?'

That little fat workshy dude that does the TV reviews/previews on GMTV said this morning that there's already been a few cock-ups in keeping the secret on the show.

Something like when the "contestants" (or rather, those gullible fools) were being transported from one area to another in a sealed vehicle, and a blind covering a window popped up.
Beautiful view of the English countryside a big stinking motorway. :p

I guess you could fool people into thinking it's really Russian countryside but a motorway? If they'd seen any signs it would have been game over! Then again, some people don't put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4.

If any of them have half a brain they will realise that they aren't wieghtless.

Exact same reaction to that part. They looked so happy and hopeful, I felt like someone should just tell them already. :(

Missed the first episode yesterday, but I saw the preview and tonights episode looks pretty promising. Want to get a closer look at that tank that rolled by. Looked very much like a German Elefant tank..

Well that's why they only took on board contestants who would see the funny side afterwards. That, and after it all they get a bundle of cash, it'd definitely help me get over it...

They came up with some random explanation for that, something about being just high enough to be in orbit but not to feel weightlesness or some crap :E

They bought it anyway :p

The actor that got abit to intrested in the whole space malarky at the end made me laugh. :D

Gah! That annoyed me. "It's a bloody tank! A real bloody tank!" screams one of the contestants. Goddamnit, man! It's a self-propelled gun, not actually a tank! Honestly! Of course, we're talking about people who apparently don't know the first thing about how orbit works ("we have just rewritten the laws of physics" says Vaughan. lawl :D).

I think the part with the guy not being on the list was a nice touch. And the "It's not rocket science" line.

''space is just like chessingtons world of adventure... times 10000''

''wow... space is the bollocks''

 !!!

So cruel how much they took the piss out of that. :E

Mission Commander was awesome: my...speech....is....so...slow...that it soon becomes...impossible...to listen to me....for long periods....of time. :x

SELF PROPELLED GUN IS NOT A TANK

The Elefant was more classed as a tank hunter/anti-tank, but yeah, self-propelled gun would be the better term. Although I don't expect anyone to actually yell out ''A bloody Jagdpanzer!'', thats if it is the German design. I wasn't sure. I would think it would be quite difficult to get your hands on a authentic Elefant or Ferdinand, but they could always of just disguised into onto another axis. I dunno.

I like having a show every night of this. Something to watch. :)

It's been pretty good so far, mostly because you know the people are being fed bullsh!t on a frequent basis and they're lapping it up. It's made a whole lot funnier with the actors because they know it's all a load of BS and you can see the look on their faces sometimes.

haha I loved the bit where they had to pretend they were communicating with mission control and they got those stupid pictures to describe.

The guy looking confused and saying,"It's Rambo and the Fonz doing a high five."

:D

Jeez, anyone watching tonights episode will have seen lecturer 'Brick' giving away a lot of secrets, good thing the cadets didn't catch on (somehow)...worst one was when he said 2001 - A Space Oddessy was filmed in Hollywood, and the other lecturer said "No, it was filmed in England", and Brick was like "Oh yeah, it was filmed here actually"...though they are in Russia supposedly not England...dumbass! Bet he's been fired...

It worries me that none of them don't think its odd that tomorrow, after a measly weeks training, they are being blasted off into space with millions of pounds worth of equipment. Well, no, they aren't. But they don't know they aren't.

It is tomorrow, isn't it? I missed tonights episode.

Alot of people are saying that the actual prank is that they know they aren't going to space so the real hoax is on the viewers. What sort of prank to the viewers is that anyway? ''Haha, you wasted an hour of each evening watching TV. Jokes on you!'' ? Wow, they sure showed me... :| *Switches TV off, forgets, return to better things*

haha, you're right. Looks like he's an actor. Maybe that's the hoax? Making us believe that they've managed to convince these people into believing they're going to go into space.

Obviously testing the gullability of the home audience. If they do make the channel 4 audience look like idiots though (which most of them are) for believing it, it could be suicidal for Channel 4, chances are they won't come out and say that it's a hoax.

Like Bleeding said, that would be a pretty rubbish 'twist'.

Maybe it isn't a twist? Maybe they realised they couldn't feasibly do it so instead of scrapping the whole project they are just faking it.

It was a british self propelled gun I believe. (Hey, I only saw the advert OK? I keep missing the damn programme).

I still find it odd that people cant tell the difference between western and Russian equipment. But maybe I just like military equipment too much.

Okay, British then. But the fact still remains that it can be quite a hole in the show if someone was to point out that it was British and not Russian.

(Oh, and I only took notice, read up and made German tank models. I have two Shermans and one Russian T34 but I much prefered German armour. Just finished my second Tiger I last night, though. Thinking whether to make it into a diorama.)

Kind of expected it to be a bit more shaky...maybe its just the way they filmed it

Well, I think that guy who was sitting on the back right (Billy I think) was thinking "This aint right" at some point.

And yeh I was expecting the whole thing to be thrown about a lot more too.

Don't forget that the cameras are fixed to the ship, so when the ship shakes, the camera doesn't pick it up, because it is part of the ship. I hope you understand lol

It's the big reveal tonight! I can see Paul rofl his ass off, because he is a bit of a prankster himself.
