Spaceship One: Congratulations

Ooook....anyone online today who actually realizes the signifigance of this?

I do.

In a few years, companies like this will be a good investment.

Soon (50 to 100 years), espace exploration will become private and we won't need Gov.'s to block our way to the Moon colonies, we won't have powers accusing each other of militarizing space. Basically, this is great

ME!!!!! :)

This is good me thinks..

Allthough they best not feck it up eh! Alots at stake.

i appreciate this very much. nasa is a joke anymore... the move into the private sector is very important.

Yeah, I realise the significance of this. We'll be able to go to space to do something. Something that we couldnt do before.... because theres a lot to do in the vast expanse of space. Stuff that NASA, the ESA, China and Russia can't already do.

I'll be more impressed when we suss anti-grav devices to launch us effortlessly into space.

I do, rich people are going into space.

no, when the technology gets cheaper, so will the prices. Competition between several companies like this will make the prices go down & down, and we'll soon be able to buy a trip with, let's say 50 000$

Important things like smoke cigars and play golf, and whatever else rich people do.

$50,000....yah rich people.

I will be interested once we colonize another planet, or make cool amusment parks that orbit earth. Err, maybe 5,000 after that happens when the prices will be low enough.

This is the first step towards that. Thats why its important. It hopefully won't take over $10,000 a lb to launch something into space for much longer.

huhuhuh.... you said colon.... huhuhuh

I think we're going to 'colon'ise the moon first, make some big moon-base to launch all our mars missions from.

I don't yet understand why they can't just dig a tunnel to the moon, like Blode suggested.

i'm so glad someone spelled congratulations correctly, instead of some retards who persist in spelling it congradulations :hmph:

anyway, this might be the start of privately owned space travel agencies/companies. good show i say, before long we'll get more and more people wanting in on it, then the government will slap a few taxes etc on it and we're away..

YAY FOR HUMANITY!!!!

I wanna go! I wanna go!

You really have a thing against people with money don't you Foxtrot...

Anyway, to think that a privately funded mission has gone to space is amazing. It actually makes you think that things like this could be routine in 50 years time (Who really knows, maybe something will have been discovered that allows for faster than light travel.:)....Can you prove otherwise?)

It would be exciting...except all the rich people will do it first and claim all the good spots....damn them!

that wouldn't solve it, rich people would still be the first ones into space and they would take all the good spots, only foxtrot would be among them. What we need is the good old commie cosmonauts to take some of the working class into space and use them to build a galactic socialist empire.

Communist eh...But, what true communist would want to go into space for fun when they could be working towards helping the good of the people?

Well lets not kid ourselves. These guys who pioneer stuff like this aren't really in it for the money. They'll likely dump more into these projects than they'll ever see back. Its after they've layed the groundwork that people can start making cash on it.

Hmmm...Gabe Newell riding in a space ship.

Hopefully this will finally start getting us out of the technological gutter when it comes to expanding the human race. It has been far too long since we last made an expansion.

Space... The final frontier.
