For many many months now I have been having the same problem - I have a constant buzzing sound coming from my left speaker.

I have two sets of speakers and both of them produce the buzzing, it also comes in on headphones. I just got a new motherboard a couple weeks ago and am using its onboard sound so I know that can't be the problem either.

I have read that setting up speakers near a light switch or an outlet can cause this, but the problem just seemed to appear out of nowhere, even though my tower has been in the same location for a while.

This is really starting to get on my nerves, and I have tried doing research on the topic but there does not seem to be much information on it. Anyone have any comments/causes/solutions?

Thanks in advance.

Try playing around with volume settings...What I would start with is turning everything in Windows all the way up, then adjusting the sound with the headphones/speakers to a good volume.

Well I have one of my speaker wires running thru my wall which runs right next to the switch for my ceiling fan. Whenever I turn my fan on or off it makes my speakers pop really loud. So that could be your problem, also make sure non of you connections going into your speakers are touching(as in black touching red). Well hope this kind of helps...Im now good @ explaining things:(

Uf you have a celluar phone and its station in the same room... it could be the reason.. everytime the station for my celluar phone gets near the speakers i get a buzzing sound from my left speaker...

I'm going to move my tower to the right of my computer desk and see what happens. Maybe it really is from interference with the light switch.

Thanks for the suggestion fat_bob but I don't have a cell phone.
