I have a little extra money($600), so I am going to be getting a new sound card and maybe some new speakers. Right now I have the z640s, would it be worth upgrading to the z680s?

I'd recommend the Z5300's for a great upgrade.
The z640's are awesome and can use digital, if you use a digital output from your PC.
The Z5300's are very very close for sound performance and they use the analog outputs from your soundcard.

Ahh alright, is it worth upgrading from the z640s though? Or will there be very little difference? Also if I do upgrade I am going to use my z640s for my xbox, would it be better than my TV speakers?

Get the Klipsch promedia 5.1 ULTRA, it runs circles around the logitechs, trust me!

Depends, if you have a small room and/or crazed neighbours then NO!.

These things produce so much bass (even on the lowest sub setting) that it can litterally make your ears pop in a small room.
I tried them in my own room (wich is moderately small, about 20 square meters), and after running through half a track of trance I had to clean up for an hour to get things back to normal. (several of my technics lego "showpieces" fell out of their cabinet and burst into pieces when they hit the floor  )

They abolutely rock that hard (and I can't stress that enough :P )

I have the logitech Z-560's ( which use the exact same sub + wattage to the sub ) and they are NOT that powerful. They do shake the walls though and have tons of bass, but if you have 600$, spend 325$ on the klipsch ultras, they really are a lot better than the logitechs in terms of sound quality :P

Supposably the klipsch ultras have a much better sub but they are not as good for games. They are superior for music but games they tend to fall behind the logitech z680. Not enough to be noticable in most cases though.

I have these and they are awsome for games.

Not all games support 7.1 though

Alright I think I will save of for the klipsch, what about using my z640s for my xbox? Is that a good idea? Err...all I am going to be using my speakers for are games....

I also have the Z-560's (what can I say, i'm a Logitech whore :E ) and the Z680 sub does kick harder than the 560's.
The 560's kindof bottom out in the lower frequencies wheras the 680's dsp seems to equalize the flutter the 560's had resulting in a cleaner lower bass IMO.

That being said, i did a little test with both hooked up .. DAMN! (wich was followed by a call from the neigbours sniper :sniper:)

Oh damn, I am close to ordering the Creative : GIGA WORKS 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers (404.00 at newegg.com)

I've been told they are killer and they pretty much "Sonically" and "quality" wise, beat logitech and klipsch.

True?

Yes those are great, but why do you need 7.1?? No game supports it, and I cant imagine MP3's sounding good in 7 channels?
