Speculation on a single shot

Take a look at this shot:

Seems like those folks and Gordon have been arrested by combine soldiers. In the Barricade vid, Barney was in a combine soldier suit, remember? What if one of the combine soldiers in the pic is Barney undercover, who is just about to free them? Maybe the barricade vid is right after this scene.

Interesting?

Ever though of the reason "he" (assuming the camera is the player) is so close is because he instead of barney is undercover? We already seen shots of the player wearing the combine gloves and shotgun

I think the gloves belong to the new HEV suit

We have seen screenshots which views City17 from above too, but that doesn't mean Gordon can fly.

Yup but if you look closely at the movies you'll see that in the traptown/tunnels vid he has like the same gloves on as the combine--but in the barricade he has something that reminds me of silver gloves...

Its more likely to be a intro shot, maybe some cinematics showing soldiers on the streets arresting people. I'm willing the bet Gorden isn't even there.

well if you count the whole train thing at the start an intro then hl2 might be like u are arrested and being takin somewhere and u pass what u see on that screenshot and stuff

yeah, remember that valve doesnt do cutscenes or movies in half life. Anything that happens happens to you as it would in real life.. you must see it your self to actually see it!

i think thats why hl1 was soo good is that it was a game and not game/movie if u know what i mean *coughcoughMGS2coughcough*
and as we have seen in hl2 there doesnt seemt o be cut scenes and crap and u can knock over computers while ai is talking \m/

That screenshot is from the same scene that's in the movie with techno music. Gordon is walking freely around City 17 and is not arrested.

If that map has been made, Gordon must be somewhere there. I dont think Valve made that map just for flying around...

You can never know... (at least not before 30th sept)

It does look like you are a captive,though. If you notice, to the direct right of the screenshot,you see a captive on the wall. And from the angle,it seems like it's your back to the wall.

I'd go with that Barney option,personally. Since those captives look an awful lot like the ones you fight with in the Barricade movie.

Edit- Oh,and there were scenes in Half-life. Remember when you were knocked out and taken to the smasher, and you heard the grunt's talk but couldnt do anything? I'm betting you the same thing will happen.

Yes, I think the map is in the game, but it's probably not what the gameplay there is like. I doubt you would be able to just walk around with the scanners and combine soldiers ignoring you.

Thats just a screenshot from that really short trailer when he's noclipping through the level, you can tell its noclip because of the way he moves.

I'v noticed on a couple of older screenshots (yes that one is old) that FSAA seems to be enabled, it deosn't look like it's just been downsized to me.

This kind of hints at a conspiracy over the whole "it will work on ATi but not Nvidia" and then after people get paraniod about buying Nvidia "Oh BTW it's all fixed now" which seems alittle odd considering they said it was a pretty dire situation where the only hope was ATi only centriod sampling.

Actually, its not from the trailer itself, but from the same map.

Yeah his gloves in the tunnels movies are not combine gloves man, if you look when he swings the crowbar for a split second you can see his arm is orange.
