Speed Problems

I have comcast cable intaraweb, they say my connection speed is 3 mbit/s, i usually download at 500 kb/s, but, for the last few days i've only been hitting 20 kb/s, I ran a speed test, usually i hit 2500/150, now im hitting 125/150...

I havent made any changes to any of my hardware, anyone have any advice? is this just comcast fixing something in my area?

beats me, sounds like someone near you has found a new use for Bit Torrent. Either way, I would call them and see if you can get credit towards the account since you are not getting what you payed for. If they have no answer about the speed issues, get some workers out there to check it out, if it is anything like roadrunner they may put in a repeater of some sort and boost your signal strength.

At one time I got really poor speeds on my 3Mbit cable line when they were doing construction in the area. It seemed like everyone was going through one line. It went away after a few weeks. :\

We called them up each day that it was slow and they gave us a discount for it.

Yeah, cable is pretty volatile (they like to make improvement to their infrastructure). Complain and you should see a discount.

Cox Cable recently bumped up my intarweb speed to 4 MBbit/second (from 3) for free. That's pretty cool.
