Speedrun vid of Portal, something interesting happens

I was jus watching the latest video of portal from this years GDC, and right at the end, something interesting happens: http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=3286

From what I could tell is that there was some sort of power surge before everything went back to normal. Could this be some sort of foreshadowing of events that will happen later in the game

I didnt think that portal had a really engaging story line? I assumed that it was just a puzzle game at the most.

Maybe it was aliens "How could they cut the power, man? They're animals!" :upstare:

That's really weird. This game gets more confusing witht he story with every update.

I love it. Theory time:
Everything you go through in the testing facility is automated; the facility itself has been abandoned by whoever created it. Evidence: the viewing things in each level have empty chairs; the "SUBJECT NAME HERE" (nobody there to record a voiceover of your name); the power fluctuations.
This, to me, suggests that at some point either (1) something serious is going to happen to the facility midway through testing and you're going to have to escape via the flame-pit things we saw in the very first trailer or (2) you're going to reach the end of the tests, to the part where "you will be baked," and somehow - perhaps through a glitch in a forcefield somewhere - still have your portal gun, and have to escape that way.
