Today spiderman 2 came out for xbox, ps2, and gamecube. I went to my nearest blockbuster to get it, and i must say, this game is amazeing. It is so much fun swinging around the city. And the city is huge. It is modeled after New York City, since thats where the story of spiderman took place, and they did a damn good job of it. The graphics are pretty good, theres dynamic skys, shadows, reflections, and spidey looks awesome, and theres also a day and night cycle. During the day it seems like you can do whatever you want, and at night is when the story takes place, but that will probably change as the game goes on. And the animations are excellent, the way that spiderman swings and such. And theres also ragdoll. There arent any reviews so far, but the user rating gave it a 9.8, which is the highest i have ever seen. I recommend for everyone to get this game.
 
I heard they took the demo down because it was "too childish". Is it the same in the full version?
 
The demo for the pc is a completely different game then the one for the consoles. The pc one was just going to be a game that you can get from a cereal box, the console versions is the real game. You can see that both games are totally different if you looked at the screenshots of both versions.
 
details details...is it truely open ended like GTA? are the random crimes varied? is there all that much to do when not engaged in the story quests?
 
is it truely open ended like GTA: You can go anywhere that you want to go, you can swing on anything you want to swing, and theres a bunch of stuff to do, and the city is really big, so yea.

are the random crimes varied: Well after 2 hours of play i didnt get the same crime twice, the ones i remember are - There was a shootout between cops and a group of criminal - someone broke there leg and i had to bring there to the hospital - someone was hanging off a ledge and i had to save them - 4 person hiijacking - bank robbery - a armored veichle was getting stolen and the drivers taken hostage - someone needed me to protect them for a a gang of guys - i had to stop a theif from stealing a bag.

is there all that much to do when not engaged in the story quests: Yes, theres all of the random crimes, you can deliver pizza, theres a whole bunch of side quest all the time, theres a arcade, just swinging around is a whole lot of fun, ill tell you more once i play for a little longer.
 
is the pc version KO like the xbox..etc ones or not ? I mean is it worth getting on PC ?

In other words, the pc versions is a kiddy game, and is COMPLETELY different then the consoles versions. The console versions are the ones were its open ended like gta and such, so no, dont get it for the pc, unless you want a totally different crappy game.
 
i played the first one, it was pretty cool. only thing i didnt like is that you couldnt drop down to the city streets. but i hear you can in this one so ill probally check it out via GameFly :D
 
Yeah..I had a thread about this game before...but since it wasn't released...nobody really cared.

Around here the release date is officially tomorrow...and I have my xbox copy reserved. I can't wait for it.

There's also somewhat of an RPG element to the game. You earn hero points from doing random missions and the story missions. These points can be spent to get new abilities for swinging, fighting, etc. They can also be spent to upgrade stats on spidey like how high he jumps, how fast he runs, probably how much spidey sense you can use (like bullet time).

i might, im kind of pissed cause they never popped in venom i mean come on look at todays technology with movies how could u not put in venom or carnage,goddamn it fries me
 
i just finished playing the game. its tooo easy. i liked the first one better
 
I thought the game was ongoing like GTA? Can you just play the game forever if you simply wanted to do random missions and swing around the city?
 
it wasnt what they said it was. You can only swing in certain areas and you cant go on top of all the buildings. You cant hurt other civilians and you only have 2 types of fighting, punch and kick. you cant go on peoples heads or do cool combos. the first one is way better!

*EDIT*Im starting to think that i got the wrong version :(. I hope not.

You're not playing the right version I think. There's plenty of things you can do besides just punch and kick. I think you're playing the crappy PC version. You can swing anywhere there's something to attach your web to...go on any building...and you can buy tons of combos and upgrades for spidey.

I've only played it for about 45 minutes so far...and it's awesome as hell. Way better than the other spidey titles I've played.

EDIT: Yeah.. looks like you definitely did.
 
yup i just got the wrong version! oh well im getting my money back and im getting the right version ths time
 
Just got this today. Very awesome game.

I can't believe people are still getting the console version and the PC version confused!
 
it wasnt my fault the fat guy at best buy said "This is the one that came out today" and i was like "are you shure?" and he said "im shure". So i bought it. I got the right version now :D so its ok i played the beginning it was awsome.

It really doesn't have a story that makes sense, it jumps from random topic to random topic. It's fake, just so you know...

Oh shit...hit a big bug that some people have had. At certain point...the story just stops. I can't get any further. Looks like I'll have to start over. I'm gonna swap copies tomorrow and hope it's just a defect in some copies...which is quite unlikely.

:eek:n topic: i bought the game, and it's in-f***ing-crdible!!! swinging is as addictive as crack! (not that i have a 1st hand experience w/ crack) sure, the civilian models are crap... and MJ looks like michael jackson after the 3rd nose he had put on... other than that... it's brilliant... no bugs to report as of now... BUY THIS GAMEEEEE!!!!
 
I just decided to start over. Not a big deal. I flew through the game until the point I hit that bug in just under an hour and a half. Before it had taken me 5 hours because I was taking my time...doing extra missions...and just swinging around. Now I got past the bug no problem. Swinging is getting more and more fun with each upgrade. I can tie up guys to lightposts...that's always funny to beat them to death/unconsciousness while they just sit there dangling. With speed upgrades at 5/8, it's pretty sweet to be able to swing really fast and actually go really high sometimes looping around your attached points.

So far I've played this game about 8 hours...and I'm still having a blast just messing around. Not to mention the rediculus amount of side things to complete...I have no idea what the rewards are though.
 
I think I'd buy any game recommended by somebody named "amishslayer"....heheh amishslayer
 
If you havent bought this game yet.. then dont buy it, rent it first, even though that may not even be worth it. The first day of playing the game was fun, i was cool swinging around the city and going onto the buildings, and doing the random (6) crimes. but just for one day. After one day it got boreing and repeative, very repeative. For example, i would save someone from falling off a building 500, and i would bring someone to the hospital 500 times, and i would stop a bank robbery 500 times. Want to know why? becuase theres only like 6 crimes. So in all honesty... dont get this game, or atleast rent it.

yea, sorry about that. I really loved the game the first time i played it, i guess i learned to keep my "review" until i played the game got more then 10 minutes :D
 
This thread sucks but the comics are awesome.

How's that for a review?
