We have a spy here at halflife2.net who brings us further information following Glenn?s late night/early morning News regarding the Steam Community which was revealed by the PC Gamer team on C&VG last night which can be found here. [br]However, this spy, more commonly known as Evo has further information on the latest news that PC Gamer have managed to steal from Valve.[br] Some of you may think I was Spy who travelled cloaked into the heart of the PC Gamer Offices with my flick-knife and small-calibre pistol travelling through areas which changed their layout every time I came back to them and avoiding the menacing duo of a Heavy and a Medic that were invulnerable for ten seconds, then sneaking past the dancing duo of Pyros to get these important documents.[br] Others may think I jumped into a modified muscle car with the gorgeous Alyx travelling through underground tunnels my new bio-luminescence lights guiding the way while Worker Antlions spat poisonous corrosive venom at me until I found the holy grail, the PC Gamer report form Valve which may, or may not be located in a top-secret Arctic base Dr. Mossman was last seen in.[br]Samon told me he thought that I had been part of a group of Survivors battling against infected monsters through two sections of city fighting and two sections fighting in the countryside until I came upon the hooded Hunter, who following the manipulation of The Director had found me alone ready for the final blow to be struck to my feeble body. Samon also murmured that I was saved by Evilsloth who received an award for his actions which will forever be found in his Steam Community stats. Things turned nasty however when Samon thought I would intentionally leave Sloth wounded lying in the path of the Hunter so I could get this news posted, the grave consequence would be that I would be kicked or banned from the game for my heinous actions.[br]The final thoughts some of you may have upon how I came across such information is that I travelled my way through the labs of the Enrichment Center creating portals to different rooms of the labs and avoiding talking gun turrets then upon reaching the final lab deciding to go back through the Center again in a Challenge or Advanced version of the labs.[br]Unfortunately you (including Samon) are all wrong if you thought such things actually occurred. The truth is much much simpler, I received my subscription copy of PC Gamer and read the articles in the flesh which soon enough will be available from the PC Gamer site (which is here) over the coming days.[br]I hope you enjoyed my musings and that they dont give too much away as everything will be revealed in more detail soon..[br]Evo[br]p.s. I may have information of a Gabe Newell interview with PC Gamer same time, next month![br]Evo out.

YOU GAVE ME UP TO A HUNTER! How dare you...
I'll have something to read when i get back from my hockey match tommorow.

YAY!!!!

Why do you say that?

Did people fail to realise what i way sayings with this

One shall experiment later! :D

Bear in mind detailed info will come form the C&VG site over the next few days, this is just a nice little news post giving you an idea of what to expect :D

Yeah that is yesterdays which Glenn has already posted about =]

Never seen him point out the Portal 3 was confirmed though :p

True true :p

But think that was just part of the PCG humour, in the Portal Preview in the mag it mentions no Portal 3.

There are no current plans for what to do with the Portal franchise, the article indicates that the team working on Portal will listen to the fans and adapt as such. It says that if fans don't like it they team will simply disband and work on other Valve projects!

You better update when the articles are actually available online, mofo!

Edit:scans plz? kthxbye

Sure will, just don't call me a mofo! :O

Read my above posts ;O

Man these are exciting times to be at Valve and be a Valve fan.

Can someone summarise what this news post is about so I don't need to read the spammie spy story.

OT - The last PCGamer I got hinted that they were going to have something regarding Duke Nukem Forever. Do you know if this latest issue had any DNF info or was PCG yanking my chain? Again. For the Nth time.

From their Microsoft roots, technical expertise and obvious business savvy, I'd expected a pressurised office atmosphere. But when I suggested I come in earlier than my noon appointment, Valve's PR man Doug Lombardi laughed: "No one's going to be around." They work the hours they feel like, Valve do their laundry for them, and they all go off on a company-funded holiday together when they finish a game. The third question I asked at Valve was "Can I have a job?"

There are no managers at Valve, and no one has a fixed position. Co-founder Gabe Newell describes himself as a playtester, and Old Man Murray co-founder Chet Faliszek's job title is 'Mr Awesome'. Doug tells me that everyone just works on what they want. "If, after Portal 3, Kim [Swift, project lead on Portal] comes in here and says 'I'm burned on Portal stuff, I wanna go build Day of Defeat maps,' we'd say, 'Killer... go do that.'"
Well, that explains all the delays! Seriously, if that article's telling the truth, I think they need to decide if that's really the best way to produce software :|

Meh it's okay, a couple of months isn't too long, there're other things to tide us over.

Seems my attempts at telling a story and news post at the same time have failed :(

Last I checked this wasn't a puzzle site, nor a creative writing website. Didn't we go through this a few months back with the stupid cartoons?

Post news, not cryptic bullshit that tells us absolutely nothing.

For those who can't be bothered to read what i posted here is the jist of it:
- Spies have cloaking techniques, a knife and a small pistol
- Medic can work with others to heal and get invulnerablility
- The map Aqua will change each time you play ir

- New lighting system (similar to Doom 3's) for the tunnel section of EP2
- Worker Antlions spit corrosive acid at you - similar style to Bullsquid
- Nothing confirmed/denied about an Arctic location being the ultimate location to arrive in for the HL2 Story Arc

- L4D combines two city campaigns and two countryside ones
- Hunter works best against single opponents - 'Director' AI manages it well
- Positive/Negative awards can be earnt and will go on Steam Community Profile Glenn posted about
- Too many Negative awards = kick/ban

- Turrets in Portal talk in a variety of voices/accents etc.
- After completion can play again in Challenge/Advanced modes
- The team behind Portal will work on a sequel/episodic content depending on community reaction

That clear now? Seemed kinda boring if that was all i did

At least now we can read through it without having to get our Ovaltine Decrypter to decipher it.

It's not about being bothered to read through your story or not. Creative writing is not what this site is for. Post news...put your stories in the forums if you want to write them. Most of us come to the site to scan over new news really quickly. We don't get all geeky over poorly written cryptic stories.

Evo, can you tell us of any new pictures that may have been in the mag concerning Episode 2? I hope there were some nice looking ones.

People are so stuck up its not even funny. Love the creative newsposts and comics. <3

Even though this newsposts wasn't entirely clear and the clarification could be posted right after in a comment, but still i like the newposts that isnt just copypaste.

Yea i probably should've done a clarification post sooner, ah well first time i've done something like that for a while, was fun :D

Yea there are some good pics, dunno if they are new or not :(

Keep on topic or i'll kick some arse!

I've been looking at the CVG site, and it seems that Episode Two has made it onto the front cover.
It's really low-res, but I am catching glimpses of sweet, shiny, 3-legged glory. :)

Edit:

It's gone!
