Started playing half life 2 and the game looks great. Pretty regularly the room will suddenly spin around me (as if I was turning around and around) very fast for a few seconds and then it will be fine again.

Am I pushing some weird key or keys by accident that is causing this movement? Anyone heard of this? It is annoying and sometimes happens at not good times like in a shoot out.

Thanks for the help,
David

i have this prob, its to do with your mouse i believe

This happened to me once it was the way the mouse was pointing at the time.

I also had this problem a few days ago. Random things would be chosen from the weapons menu without me even pushing a key on the keyboard, and it turned out to be the mouse. So, the next day I bought a new wireless optical mouse and I have no more of those jumpy problems.

yeah some mouses have problems where randomly they think you moved the mouse a lot in one direction
buying a new mouse should help

It worked

Thanks for the tip. I tried a different mouse and have not had any more problems with the spinning motion.

This usually happens with optical mice that are being used on surfaces the mouse cant read from very well. Try an xtrac mouse pad designed for an optical mouse. (and get a cloth-surface one) here's a link http://www.xtracpads.com

this happen to me and it turned out to be the mouse replaced mouse and it was ok. it also changed my weapons at unexpected times. happened also in Enemy territory. it also produced an beep from the speaker inside pc. the mouse was standard wire mouse not optical.
but i know what you mean with an optical mouse you need same overall colour mouse mat cause different patterns confuse it. i find optical mice no good for games.
