Splinter Cell: Conviction

Hopefully they don't crop the the storyline when they port it to PC, like they did with Double Agent.

That series is growing a bit stale IMO. You can only put a fresh coat of paint on so many times. Hopefully there's something in this game that distinguishes it from the rest.

I have it for the 360, what did they cut from the pc version. Weird thing is this is the first splinter cell game i got on a console. Mainly for COOP.

for the pc version, you MUST have a sm 3,0 shader to play. Many fans could not play cause of it, including me

The guy up top said they cropped the story. I was asking about what they cut.

Lol'd @ the comments below the news post.

Actually, the plot holes in the PC version existed in the 360 version too, the PC and 360 versions of SCDA were done by Shanghai studios, the PS2 and XB1 vers were done by the original team that did SC1 and SCCT, and it contains a far better story with quite a bit more detail, so in honesty, if you are a fan of Splinter Cell and wanna follow the story, you should get either the XB1 or PS2 vers, done by the original team.

Splinter Cell: Pandora Double Conviction Agent 5: Chaos Connection Factor: Red Tomorrow

Excuse me while I contain my massive erection, it's just every time a new generic Clancy installment is announced I get excited :( I wish Maddox would do an installment on Clancy games.

another?.....damn ubi really keep churning them out....

Another ****ing Splinter Cell?

Jesus christ, let the series die already.

Let the series DIE? It's maybe the best Clancy series ever, forget about stupid Rainbow Six

Wait wait, why do you have so much against the Splinter Cell series? It's not worse than say the Final Fantasy series in terms of repetition.

Sam Fisher... looks... very much different from what he used to look. But I like it. But how can he join Third Echelon again? They left off with them hunting him down? And that does happen in both PS2 and XBox 360 versions. In PS2 there's a conversation which ends with "You can't hide from us, Fisher." "Watch me." and 360 version ends with Sam diving into the water before the boat blows and they were looking for him to put him on trial?

Uhm? And don't give me that crap about spoilers. This is a thread about the sequel, of course there will be spoilers.

They say that at the beginning of the game Sam learns that Anna Grimsdottir is in danger so Sam joins Third Echelon again in order to help. However, Third Echelon is not what it used to be and in the first mission Sam gets false info and the wrong equipment, while his bosses are bickering amongst themselves about procedures, authority and such. Then Sam finds out that the threat to Anna comes from within the Third Echelon, quits and becomes a fugitive.

That is the summary on the website. It doesn't make sense. They ignored anna completely in DA and now want to bring her back. They ignore Sam was a fugitive and ignore Williams and let him join Third Echelon again only for him to become a fugitive again. They should fire their writing team.

YEY! If its anything like Double Agent, we're in business, twas the best game i have played in a while.

and no dont let the series die, i have brought and loved every one of the Splinter Cells, keep em coming Ubi!

excellent news, another sc adventure to play.

I just want the old light meter back, that new bullshit with the green, yellow, and red made me sad

Funny thing is i loved the the 1st 3 but i dont remember the story AT ALL. Can someone refresh my memory on what happened in the 1st 3? (pc versions)

Who is anna?

Grimsdottir is a security and computer expert working at third echelon. Or was... anyway... she contacts Sam sometimes... just like Lambert. She didn't appear in Double Agent, but she was in 1, 2 and 3, and in Essentials.

Splinter Cell's story was Nikoladze(georgian president) wants to obtain Azerbaijans vast supply of oil resources by mass murder.

Pandora Tomorrow was Sadono who had biological smallpox viruses bombs which he would detonate... because of something in Indonesia.

Chaos Theory was about Shetland wanting to start world war 3 for some reason... he thought what would come out afterwards would be better then the present.

Thanks. Refreshed my memory. btw the 4th had the deepest and best storyline in my opinion.

Because, they're pretty much all rehashes now.

The first two were great though, I kinda've liked CT for the refined multiplayer.
But now it's just different stories... nothing really new anymore.

If ya'll like them, that's fine with me... just voicing my opinion is all.

Double Agent seemed very different to me in terms of gameplay. The JBA HQ missions where a blast and very different.

It connects with the DA storyline if you go with the True Ending

nuff said

Yeah i really liked the plot in DA, and the multiple endings were a nice touch

Iv only seen one ending so far the one where you jump the bout. I was watching the special features that came on a bonus cd with the special edition and i noticed a lot of CG movies i never saw in the game. Im hoping its the other two endings.

There was this one movie where it shows you coming up from snow and killing another spy then it shows you holding a girl that im very sure is Enrica and she had died.

That part was in a DA trailer as well, and it is in the game. Well, in the PS2 Double Agent. Yes, the girl Sam is holding is Enrica and she was dead. The train part in one of the trailers is also in the PS2 version, but not in the next-gen versions.

And the "true" ending to Double Agent is supposed to be Sam jumping off the boat after defusing the bomb... that doesn't really fit with what's coming now. Shanghai and Montreal... have they even communicated with each other? Because their story's are pretty different.

god having the game made by two separate studios just sounds retarded...

There are some scans of the magazine out on the internet, and well.. it includes Sam fighting, throwing chairs and walking around in public. Also a pic of him sneaking in an office of some kind. There are 2 guards in the room, but I don't think they're aware of his presence. Well, maybe they are...

Why in the world would they do that? Make the same game so different? Doesn't make any sense.

Two different studios who doesn't seem to agree on how the story should progress or just lack of communication. Maybe that's why Montreal(creator of currentgen versions) is now crapping all over Shanghai(creator of nextgen versions) and totally ignoring their story from Double Agent. :)

And why they made nextgen versions and currentgen versions(as they were known as back then) so different from each other may have something to do with wanting to give older platforms exclusive content so people would buy it as well as nextgen versions. Or just give something special to those who hadn't aquired a nextgen console by then.

Older consoles wasn't close to the power of newer consoles, to play the 360 version on a older console wouldn't be possible without totally redoing the whole thing. So they did something else. There were some framerate issues already in PS2 versions.

Oh well. Sucks but what can you do. I hope they dont completely discard the DA story.
