Splinter Cell: Conviction

Im hyped by just hearing his voice again!

Just saw this, nice to have at least something new on the game.

P.S. The island is Malta.

Argh, cliché alert.

Splinter Cell fell out of my favour in Chaos Theory, only to cement my dislike with Double Agent. I know the former is not a popular opinion, but as... polished as 3 was, it simply didn't engage me in the way the original did; and I did enjoy it. But it was kind of the beginning of the end. The gameplay was very good, but it's marred -- and the Fisher character -- by its reliance on such cliché premises that are so abundant in the works of Tom "I can't write for shit" Clancy. For me, it's a real distraction, which is odd, because I have never been story-over-gameplay in my thinking.

I guess I just ****ing hate that Tom Clancy's name is in the title. I'd pick this one up, too, but I'm concerned that they're going to go in the same direction as the latest game, and I'm not sure they can sustain the character of Sam Fisher. He kind of became a parody of himself.

I've heard many rumours from inside the company that they scrapped the whole original idea of AC meets SC, which sorta bums me out if true.

Oh shame, I suppose we'll need to wait till E3 and they had better impress the hell out of people cos this game is coming out at xmas and next to AC2.

My favourite game series ever! (Yes, I too am forgetting the very existence of Next Gen Double Agent), Can't wait to see more on this.

1) retarded teaser trailer.

2) I have no hope for this game after the bug-fest that was double agent. I really hope they fired that entire team and got someone else working on this one.

Double agent was done by Ubisoft Shanghai, who I think have yet to make a decent game, Splinter Cell 1 and 3 were done by Ubisoft Montreal, as well as that they made Assassins Creed, also the Rainbow Six Vegas games. Conviction is being done by Montreal.

the first and chaos theory were so damn excellent.. i think it's gone down the drain abit now

This.

Conviction will be awesome, I'll be pre-ordering this for sure

I always found the SC series quite dull, which is strange coz I like stealth games. CT however was great if a little samey. I just don't engage fully in them. The plot and characterisation just isn't there. I couldn't care less about Sam Fisher.

And this can't be restated enough times, the XB1/PS2 versions of Double Agent, which were made by Ubi Montreal(Original creators of SC franchise), was GREAT, gameplay basically felt like SCCT with a few new novelties and improvements.

Co-op campaign ruled also.

I thought the trailer for it ages ago looked shit. Hopefully it has gone back to the Chaos Theory style. There's 10x more stuff they could add to the CT shadow gameplay.

Wait I heard they also had different stories so which does this game follow the 360/PC one or the PS2/XB1 one? I only played the 360/PC version (and yeah it wasn't great)

Actually, the same basic story was there, but the XB1 one had a lot more fleshed out characters etc IMO.
