So I recently decided to play through the whole Splinter Cell series before Conviction is released. I'm wrapping up Chaos Theory and don't own Double Agent yet. However, I don't know which generation of Double Agent I should purchase.

Is the 360 version ("newer") better than the original Xbox release? I understand they are completely different games.

Whichever item wins the poll will be what I purchase next.

I don't know the differences, but I think the 360 version is definitely the better option. Cracking game by the way, best of the series to date.

I had no idea there was an original xbox version. 360 would be better though.

Haha, I thought this thread was about an ingame decision.

Apparently the Xbox version is better than the 360 version.

Having played only the 360 version, I have to say Chaos Theory was about twice as good.

360 has better visuals. Same game.

Lol, what? No. No, it's not. Case in point: the original Xbox version has an entirely different ending.

If you like timed missions, then by all means, go with the 360 version. I would've put up with the outdated graphics in the original to avoid timed missions. **** that shit.

You get more than enough time to do the base sections. I found myself frequently waiting after doing the parts I wanted to.

And there were three different endings, I believe, based on your choices. I got the canon ending(the one with the bonus mission afterward).

Not sure the difference in the xbox 1 version.

Double Agent on 360 was a great game, I highly recommend it. Also, the new SC game makes me sad with the looks of its "Mark and Execute" gameplay mechanic.

DIfferences are here.

If you want to complete all the objectives, plus the bonus ones to get unlockable weapons and gadgets, then the timed missions were a PITA. And the three endings were insignificantly different, excepting of course, the bonus mission one.

I'd also like to say that I played the PC version which was so ****ing buggy, it soured my experience. Perhaps my opinion would be different had I played the 360 version but I still hate timed missions.

The original x-box version was developed by the same guys who did the original Splinter Cell game and Chaos Theory, and was regarded as good as their earlier SC games.
The next gen 360/PC version was trash in comparison as it removed alot of Sam Fishers personal anguish from the story, added quite crappy and short level design and for some reason removed all lip synch from the enemy Sam dealt with which left an awkward animation in it's place.

Go for the original x-box version, easily as good as CT.

You kidding me? Both 360/ps3 version single player missions suck ass. Go for Xbox version, downgraded graphic (so what?), but better SP experience overall.

Went and read wiki and bit and saw this

There are actually two separate versions of Double Agent. One version (Generation Seven version) was made by Ubisoft Shanghai, who developed Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and was released on the Xbox 360, Windows, and PlayStation 3. The other version (Generation Six version) was made by Ubisoft Montreal

I was totally wrong, **** the next gen version. Ubisoft Shanghai can **** ducks suck dicks ****

I suggest getting both, but if you can only get one, get the XB1 version.

Be warned however, there are bugs with the XB1 version if you play it on the XB360, such as distorted sound etc(no sound muffled through doors and so forth), so I recommend you play it on the original XB1 if you have one.

The 'old-gen' version still had sneaking missions in the HQ; only they were designed in a different way.

Am I the only one who loved double agent on the 360? I thought it was the best of the series by miles.

i liked it but I still think CT is the series' high point

Your pretty much alone I think, the 360/PC version of DA is arguably the worst game in the series.

After going back and playing them all again, I'd say the following...

Chaos Theory> Double Agent> Pandora Tomorrow> Original. There were some really annoying things about DA (on pc at least) but all in all, it was a great game.

I'm not a fan of DA, but from what I hear, it's better on the Xbox.

I'll talk Chaos Theory any day of the week (I was even doing spies vs mercs last night too!)

I just bought DA in the Steam sale.

$5 is awesome for this.

I picked it up as well. 5 bucks is a pretty fair price for it.

Easily the best game in the franchise. Basically, any of them not developed by Ubi Montreal aren't worth the time.

Pandora Tomorrow was developed by ubi shanghai and it was the first SC game to provide spies vs. mercs multiplayer. Ubi Montreal perfected it.
