You have to use your ammo and fists to kill the imps etc that surround the battleground, avoid the CyberDemon by staying on the other side of the gap as him at all times... Once you kill 4 or 5 imps you use the SoulCube directly at the CyberDemon. This is the only way to kill him.

I got a question

When you choose if you want to send the distress signal or not.

Does it make any difference?

That's what I was thinking, I clicked Yes but was too far in-to the game to go back and see what happened if i'd clicked cancel.

One thing I did do though, in one scene you run into a room and there's a civillian trapped in some sort of test chamber (with a glass wall so you can see him). He shouts for you to help him out by pressing a button on the outside of the chamber, next to you. I didn't realise there were two buttons (one ACTIVATE CHAMBER and one UNLOCK CHAMBER) I rushed in there and accidentally hit the Activate... the guy got totally minced up. I reverted to the last quicksave and freed him, but aparently all he did was open a locked door with some extra ammo behind - useful stuff, but without the extra ammo the game would still be completable.

I beat it too. I was kind of pissed you never got to kill that dr. bertruger guy, you know the evil guy who kept laughing crazily at you and saying you were gonna burn in hell forever? I wanted to pump some shotgun shells into that guy, but we never got to! Instead we just had to kill some giant demon with a flying box.

how long did it take you guys?

i want a general idea of how long the game is, and could you include what difficulty you put it on?

I'm guessing it took around 15-18 hours, I played on the medium setting

I played on hard, died a few more times as a result, and didnt have as much ammo as them things need more shots before they go down. Took me about 20 to 25 hours game-time, had gaps inbetween for IRC, food, toilet breaks and sleep.

Best piece of hardcore nonstop gaming I think i've ever had. Come on Half-Life2!

That is the final boss, he's about 25 feet tall
