I saw it last night. Its the best one of the three IMO.

Heh, I'm playing the game right now and tomorrow I'm watching the movie!
Read the books 3 times and I have to have the deluxe DVD set when it's out

have fun!

I just saw it yesterday. It was the best movie in the series I think, but it took way to long to end, lol. People were like, "Holy sh*t!!" when it went black, but then still contiuned, lol. It was so f*cking funny!

if it doesn't win the best picture oscar they should just rename the award and call it the second best picture of the year because pete jackson has been ripped off 2 years in a row.

Man I just saw it! It was fantastic! It's definitly the best one!
But the ending was a bit too much...a little too sentimental

I was supposed to see it today with some friends, meh. I'll wait for the dvd.

I would go and watch in the Cinema if I were you! It's one of those films that can't be enjoyed as well as if you're just sitting at home...

COMBINE!!!!! *the crowd goes wild*

*SPOILERS AHOY*

I thought the ending was badly edited as many people were almost standing up to leave at the wrong moments but i can forgive its length as its an ending for not just one film but all 3 of them and it also remains rather true to Tolkein's vision. I hope for the extended DVD he rectifies that. Other than that issue the film was awsome although I dont understand why they chose to bind Arwens fate with the ring. The part where Legolas takes down an Oliphaunt on his own was simply jaw dropping and gimli's reaction afterwards raised the biggest laugh of the whole film.

If I were to choose one part of the film that stood out for me it would be the whole Shelob sequence. Ever since i read books this is what i have dreamed of seeing ever since they announced they would be filming the LOTR. When the trailer first appeared many people complained that shelob was far too small but what those people dont realise is the part in the trailer footage only shows her head and even then she's quite a way of in the background. The scene where Frodo is walking up the final part of the stairs of Cirith Ungol after escaping Shelobs lair and Shelobs sneaks out of a small cave just above him drew a huge collective 'OMG!' gasp from the whole audience. Its at the end of this sequence where Shelob has sam pinned up against a wall that you see how truly huge she is to silence those critics who compained about her bieng tiny.

Overall i loved the film and will defintely be going to see it again in the next few days when i finally get around to my Xmas shopping! :E

Its a kickass movie! 6 minutes longer then titanic, so this is the second longest movie ive ever seen.

Ive seen longer. The full length 'How the west was won' is over 4 hours long :E

Now thats a film that deserves the phrase "It was propa bo, i tell thee" (Anyone who hasnt watched Bo Selecta will have no idea what im talking about.

Seriously though, that was a great film. My head is exploding with information overload.

I see what you mean about people getting up. It was funny in the end though, because people were literally holding there breath and when it finally said the end, you just heard this sigh of relief.

The bit where frodo got paralysied by the poison was funny. Because, you jsut ehad these little surpresed screams and gasp throughout the audience. Then the "Is that it?" "Is he dead?" "It cant be, there must be a mistake". Then the people who have actually read the books are like "He he he.." "Just watch" and "Yeah....didn't you know, thats the end of the film"

*****SPOILERS*****

did anyone else think that the ending was just a little big gay? i mean..forod's lying in bed, two hobbits run in and start touching him up, then aragorn walks in grinning to himself, then legolas with his gay looking hairdo, then gimmly grunting away, and then finally sam. and all the while, gandalf is watching like a dirty old man.

apart from that the rest of the film was pretty decent. it was just the end, people kept walking out. and everytime the screen faded out people thought ok finally it's over....and then it would fade into another scene and people would (seriously) shout out "oh ****ing hell" right in the middle of the cinema with loads of kids.

my favourite part was when the riders of rohan charged for the first time against the orcs. had my palms all sweaty.

You can feel that....feeling go through your body, every time the music starts up and you see the men marching against the orcs. It just makes oyu want to take up a sword and kill some critters. When the ghosts came out of the ships, that was cool.
Anyone else surprised by how much they got away with? It was rated 12A and they had heads being flung (litterally) all over the place.

yeah...and that huge spider, hehehe...guys, if you're gonna go see ROTK, make sure you take a lady friend with you ;) she'll start hugging you halfway through guarunteed. to be honest i found that scene a little creepy too.

what gets me is how they could be so brave. i mean it's only a film but holy shit, if that was me in any of those situations i'd just go hide under a pile of coats. i was this close to standing up and giving the cinema my war cry (a la Full Metal Jacket) during those battle scenes. they're so well executed, although admitedly they weren't set up and played through properly in my opinion. i'm gonna go watch it again new years eve. good shit.

EDIT: poor grammar

Man i want to see all those films again. Especially return of the king. The emothions that stured up inside me were so strong. Normally im quite a controlled guy, thats not always a good thing but this film just left me speechless sometimes. I think the scale of it all was something that helped. It made it all feel so real, you were't just confined to the battle going on in the immediate area of the heroes, but instead you have birdseye views of everything that was going on.

When the eagles came, i almost shouted out. When Aragorn turned and said "For frodo" I almost cried with the sheer nobility and bravery of it. After the rohirim riders turned up, i was ready to attack the screen with them.

The battles were pretty well done i thought. I mean, they kind of just ran straight into it ina way i suppose but still it was great. :D

I cant wait for the day...several days, when i can watch both the Matrix trillogy and the Lord of the Rings trillogy. Possibly die hard too, because that is not only a coll set of films but would also make it 3 trillogys :)

It was worth having my left buttcheek fall asleep and cramps running through my leg.

The charge of the Rohirrim was awesome!
Eowyn's moment is great-a scene I remember from reading the book 20 years ago.
Shelob was very well done. Who would have thought a simple giant spider could work so well with an audience that has seen that type of thing done over and over. Our audience gasped in shock at the same moment as above mentioned.
I did NOT like the editing of the end. Too many fade to blacks.

If you are reading it and haven't seen it. It isn't over until "THE END" shows up. Just sit tight. There is a lot...too much wrap up. I think they could have done all that with the Extended and it would be very appreciated. But I think they could have reduced those scenes down. I would have skipped all the Sam scenes and just shown him arriving at home and letting the audience learn that way. I would have skipped the Bilbo/Frodo wagon scene too.

I saw it on an IMAX screeen. I have to say I wouldn't do that again. Since it isn't really IMAX quality I found the scenes slightly blurry and I even saw ghosting. I will likely see it again in the theatre, but it will be a normal theater. And I will bring a butt-pillow.

Dont know about you lot but the scene where Pippin starts singing that mournful song thats intercut with Faramirs Suicide charge gave me a lump in my throat...

Yeah...That was really well done. And the way it flicked between him eating loudly and them charging. He was just sat there, breaking apart chicken, completely seperated and uncaring, when his son was charging to his death all in the name of Gondor, his fathers love and hs own obedience.

In fact just thinking about it, is making the emotion flow through me again.

i agree that the frodo bed scene was a bit gay...and also the goodbyes at the end were a bit long...especially since you know what's going to happen even if you haven't read the books.

but yeah...a lot of the scenes were incredible.
shelob stalking frodo
denethor eating during faramir's charge
the charge of the rohirrim
the dead swarming around the oliphaunts
the nazgul king being destroyed
the eagles coming to the rescue

the list goes on :p

Best film I have ever seen, and I mean of all time, imo the only thing that comes close is... nah nothing comes close

ONLY bad thing I have to say about it was the ending, it was nice and all but I think it could of been set out better, thats all.
