Why does everyone have such a huge problem with the links?

It is a few green bloody letters, there are a lot more problems with this forum then green words on a page for goodness sake.
 
Green looks outcast and sucks against the forum background. It looks FUGLY. But I don't care about colour, I just don't like the fact they are there.
 
I don't think it's our place to challenge whether or not there are ads. Munro and his staff are running this site, and what they say goes.
 
This just in!

Having discussed the matter with the Intellitxt ads with Munro, and having been reassured that 100% of the profits from it are poured directly back into Halflife2.net and NOT Munro's pocket, I change my vote to "the ads are okay" although I wish there was some other way of generating decent income than intrusive ads like that.

We are the community, we are what makes the site, if the community doesn't like something it has to be voiced. Whether they listen is another matter, its more the fact that the community does rise up and challenge what it thinks is crap, bad and what it thinks is good.

No shit Sherlock. But what the leadership team need to do, is take in consideration the views of the community. The community that makes the site/forum what it is. And following that, they make a constructive desicion.

So if Bush/Blair decides everyone should have a mini billboard in their front yard to gain more money (whether for himself or the country) they should go ahead without objections?

I guess in Nazi Germany you would have helped gas Jews without question because "Hitler and his staff are running this country, and what they say goes."?

By all means, lets join in and express our love/distate/whatever for these sponsored links, but don't compare this to the genocide of a million people for ****'s sake.

Although maybe HL2.net really is a country and all this will change real lives, and I'm too dumb to notice...

Obviously you don't care much for the community if you can't stand a few itty-bitty text ads. It's FOR the community, the money isn't going to Munro, it's going to US. Nobody is forcing you to click anything.

Very perceptive. I know that the money is going towards the site, and not Munro's pocket, but at the end of the day, I really don't want ads in my post. O to do with the community, I don't want them in. Yes, the things promised with the funds would be somewhat good, but either way the community will still be here....

I just don't like them in my posts. Period. And don't tell me I'm wrong because I'm not.

We'll just how things pan out.

Use banner ads or some dumbass paypal donate (SPECIAL DEALS LOL) or anything, just stop making my goddamn posts into a banner ad, because its not right. I've never seen any other site do that. Pop ups would even be better.



I also want to add that my dislike of the adlinks has nothing to do with hetairia, whatsoever. I just don't like having my posts raped. If you want to do the Chris_D thing, or whatever, I don't care, I just don't like the adlinks.

That has to be the stupidest argument i have ever heard, Munro is raising money for the forums by replacing a few random words on a page with green font, that is all, not exterminating Jews.

Munro isn't Hitler, Stalin or Bush you morons, he isn't stealing the money and i wouldn't care if he did. With the amount of problems this forums have, green words are nothing.

Yeah, but on a number of levels it's still comparing Munro to Hitler.

Can we move on from the whole Hitler / Holocaust argument, I think we've all established that this situation is much worse :rolleyes:
 
Ok, seeing as there are a load of people that hate the ads,

Who the *uck cares if OUr Leader, Comrade Munro makes money or not?

Also, why care about the damn ads, its just underlined and green.

Tell us exactly how the money is going to be spent and then i'll make my decision.
 
Like Munro has said already, if there are any questions about the money or any other concerns you have then PM or e-mail him and he'll gladly put your mind at rest.
 
He's posted in this one, and the other one about it already and he's fed up of posting about it in public because he just gets compared to Hitler etc. so he's not gonna keep going round in circles.
 
But to be fair - this discussion is going no-where. Us staff have aired our greviences, I may personally not like the adverts, but it's hardley fair to compare the owner of this site to a facist dictator.
 
Well it seems my post, with my own personal opinion on the matter was removed, as well as the way to remove the adverts.


For anyone interested in removing the adverts, contact me, I will tell you how. But my feeling is, my post will just be pulled yet again.
 
In my opinioin, people who want to remove the ads aren't going to click them.. therefore = no lost revenue.

I honestly don't think anybody in their right mind would click them, except by accident. I'm sure the first day or three they were implemented, there was ALOT of revenue generated <snickers>
 
It is useless, but he is also going to be making money off it. I mean no one does click them. That is 100% obvious. I am sure there are quite possibly 20 computer illiterate people(AKA noobs) that click them, but anyone else over the age of 16 would not click them.

Whatever generates money is okay in my book, and now since I cannot see them, I could care less. :)
