I'm not aware we agreed to any of those things. Seeing how Icarus was fired for not communicating things fully I could see how I don't know of this request. In the months after he left I heard nothing though. We don't have any forum adverts for b33f either simply because we never made any arrangements for it and because we no longer use b33f as a sponsor. With regards to tournaments, even if we did promise to do tournaments with your servers it was on hold until Valve Anti Cheat was available. Our HL2.net/Leetnet was a shambles from the start, especially since I never asked Icarus to make the deal in the first place

Now, lets stop talking about past communication cock ups and go back on topic regarding the text links.

This issue is at the heart of what you are trying to do here. My contention is that you already had what it is you are trying to 'purchase' from these ads.

You are saying you want to get your own servers, but you are saying that you didn't approve what Icarus set up with leetnet and beef as gameserver sponsors. Make up your damn mind!

It's pathetic that you are throwing Icarus under the bus here. Take some responsiblity for your site ffs! Maybe when you let Icarus go you should have contacted your sponsors and discussed the terms with them. Maybe before Icarus left you should have found out from him what was promised.

You are one sad sorry individual. You are ignoring the truth and substituting your own reality.

You had the things you are begging the community for. You mismanaged them and now your sponsors have left you. These sponsors aren't kids. They are real companies who put real money into YOUR site. You did a horrible job managing them. Why in the world should any of us believe you can manage cash any better?

Chris I don't know if you have to pay for your hosting, but we know Munro dosent pay for his, so I have no idea why he needs to money, he had servers, but cocked it up. What makes you think its going to be any different.

If valve suddenly dropped halflife2.net then I would support advertisments. But at the moment he is taking advantage of the goodwill of valve.

Munro, what exactly do you have planned for every single cent of the income generated by the Intellitxt and banner advertisements? I don't particularly mind the intellitxt ads if the money they make is going completely and totally towards the site.

I like you, Munro, but I don't think it's fair for you to make money off of a site that you pay nothing for, while all of the moderators and content writers who keep the site aloft do it for free, and you don't do nearly as much.

I propose that Munro somehow implements a system where he shows us all of the money gained from Intellitxt and the google ads, et cetera, and then shows us exactly what happens to all of it in support of the site. A Halflife2.net "budget" if you will.

tbh, £5 is a shit load of money... per person. that adds up to some serious profit for you Chris_D. SiN is never going to be as popular as hl2.net so your bandwidth shouldnt be too expensive that you need that much.... :rolling:

The site has cost me £200 so far before I've even started. I've never said I'll keep the donations active indefinitely. Also, currently, I'm using Munro's bandwidth at SupremeCommand.org and I'd quite like my own hosting for it.

Well I didn't. You guys can say what you like about the donation system on that site. I like the feedback.

The majority of people I've spoken to have said they prefer the idea as it's unobtrusive, worth the money and most would consider donating. I was actually going to have the donation price less. Was gonna have it at $5 then people kept saying it was worth £5 so the people hath spoken.

What on earth are you on mate? I want to buy my own servers and not have to go through crap sponsors, it's nothing to do with you, it's nothing to do with Icarus either. You really are starting to annoy me. If you want to moan about what I do with servers take it elsewhere.

If anyone would like to give some real feedback on the adverts send them by email. I'm fed up of seeing stupid people post about me only wanting the money for myself. If I wanted money I would of sold this site months ago for thousands.
