As Stage6 grew quickly and dramatically (accompanied by an explosion of other sites delivering high quality video), it became clear that operating the service as a part of the larger DivX business no longer made sense. We couldn?t continue to run Stage6 and focus on our broader strategy to make it possible for anyone to enjoy high quality video on any device. So, in July of last year we announced that we were kicking off an effort to explore strategic alternatives for Stage6, which is a fancy way of saying we decided we would either have to sell it, spin it out into a private company or shut it down.

Shame. It really was a good service.

I was expecting this. The first and last time I used their service was about 2 weeks ago and barely anything worked. I uploaded my videos 6 times, and they all sat in "Stage 1 of 3: Processing" for two days. I read up on it and they've been having technical problems for a while now.

Sucks though. Having such high quality video on the Internets was really cool.

aw yeah cheers I have it, I'm downloading stalingrad atm, seen it loads before but might aswell have it, thing is it was uploaded twice and one version is like a minute or so longer :|

Its a bit ghey the series didn't cover the eastern front more, no episode on Kursk(only mentioned in the episode 'Red Star') or Operation Bagration(Army Group Centre virtually annihilated etc)

Also I'm wondering does the episode 'Genocide' began with the sombre warning from Lawrence Olivier about the scenes/testimony in this episode, heard it was cut from the DVD version
