lol torrents. I grab stuff through newsgroups all the time though to get stuff early (before Aussie street dates anyway) but that's about it. btw it's a good game.

For the people who have the will power to download a game then buy something they got for free for support. Props to you guys.

I do this all the time, especially with music. I'm just a sucker for boxes and packaging.

Same here, just i don't download stuff to get it early. Dunno probably because im scared i wont buy it.

I download stuff early if it's the final copy. I hate getting an album's worth of demo recordings instead of the release version, and the same goes for beta or untranslated versions of games.

Did it for the original cause I was skeptical, I see now it was money well spent. I wont be able to buy Clear Sky right away, so I'll check back to see your impressions :)

like darn it why do the eurofags get it before us americuns?

Gush durn it.

...!!!

/me runs after DM

edit: Gave into tempation and loaded her up. It's ****in fantastic so far!

If I thought Hellgate was awesome.

I'll have pretty good fun with this game... Let alone any other :(

SoC keeps crashing for me. I'm back in Yantar (on a mission for the Freedom leader) and it just randomly shuts down. No stutter, no slow-down, to error message. I just get booted straight to desktop.

Halp please for Shadow of Chernoble (minor spoilers):
I'm heading to turn off the brain scorcher but there are hot pockets of radiation everywhere. I have a SEVA suit, a Crystal and an Urchin but the only thing they seem to be doing is making me bleed to death. Is nothing able to protect from radiation? The cultists trying to blow me to hell don't help either. Last time I tried to get through the area I just randomly exploded. WTF?

I have two artifacts that protect from radiation and a suit that says 90% radiation protection and I still need to drink 3 bottles of vodka to prevent me pissing blood. I'm a bit skeptical that another damned artifact strapped to my belt will fix my problems.

fireball has +20 rad protection and -30 enurance make you sure buy anti rad instead of vodka imho

I have far more anti-rad than vodka. I usually only have one bottle of vodka with me and that's because I like to RP and let my character sit down and have a drink for a while. I just put it that way for effect.

Red Forest is quite hard, yeah. Luckily I had a lot of anti-rad when I got there.

OMGOMGOMG

I got my Collector's Edition yesterday! :D

The game, she's awesome, but we need a stronger computer to run it properly. Meng, the atmosphere drips from the monitor like sweat from a horny whore! It's ****ing amazing.

Plus, we have the original russian version with a lector. Just like in the movies!

I fell numerous times off train bridge trying to inspect the spherical energy field, then the game crashed :<

Has the combat been improved any in the sequel? I'm half tempted to pick this up.

It depends. It encourages tactics and careful picking of fights - running in and gunning ain't gonna take you anywhere, the game rewards stealth and precision.

Taking down a military squad with my silenced PB <3

Benefits of being Polish and having an awesome CE in the form of a medpack... number 76.

Try a Crystal. You can get them from the goofball salesperson at the Army base if you do some chores for him. There are some hot radiation spots, but there shouldn't be so many that they wreck you. I only recall them on the road leading to the scorcher, and a particularly hot spot or two around a back door to the scorcher 'base'.

Just finished SoC and I got
the ****ing "I want to be rich" ending. I did not go through all that shit to get money. FFS that was annoying, especially considering how annoying the last section of the game is anyway.

I didn't hear anything more from the doctor after he gives me the co-ordinates for the hotel. Speaking of the hotel, that decoder was sitting in my inventory having been used for nothing when I finished the game, along with Strelok's flash drive and the flash drive of a crazy stalker. I also learned next to nothing about the circumstances of Strelok's memory loss.

I found Wolf's body in a fire outside the Freedom base with no explaination what so ever. Not even a PDA diary. I killed all the stalkers that were there, though.

Although the bit where you join a squad of super stalkers in the push into Monolith territory is fun, it was pretty random. Just before joining them I had helped a squad of Freedom stalkers push to the border of the town, so why couldn't I make my venture with them?

There were next to no mutants in the Red Forest. There were pseudodogs (my most hated creature in the game), ghost pseudodogs a handful of snorks and one zombie, who seemed to be fighting with Monolith. I saw no mutants what so ever near the plant and only a handful of anomalies. The only artifacts I saw were gravis. I was expecting crazy shit but there were only infuriating amounts of Monolith super stalkers. I think the gauss gun should be a one-shot-kill weapon but it only kills those bastards if it's a headshot, which limits its usefullness. Also, I killed three stalkers with rocket launchers and in searching their bodies and weapons found a total of one rocket.

The sky turning red was freaky at first but I managed to get inside the plant well befor the blowout was due to happen. Also the voice is a little freaky at first but quickly gets annoying.

And why were so many stalkers able to survive right on top of the brain scorcher (with a total of zero zombies and controlers nearby)? In fact, it seemed to be one of the heavily populated areas, along with the plant itself, which was amazingly unradioactive.

You see, the Brain Scorcher rapes the mind and takes over the mind of the victim. This is where Monolith troopers come from. It doesn't kill you (that's a common misconception), it takes over your mind and swells the ranks of the Monolith. This is why they can survive there.

Besides, it's an easy to defend location, and thus essential to the tactics of the Monolith organization.

Also, Asuka, you have no idea how much satisfaction your posts give me.

Ok, Shippi just explained that I'm an idiot, I'm going back to finish the game properly.

The extended storyline involving the 'locked door' is pretty well hidden, which is odd considering how important it is to the game, alot of people just went straight to the scorcher after Yantar.

Also Wolf dies in the fire due to a spawning bug, usually he just makes that camp his new home lol.

Those who think like Stalkers complete the game. Those who don't, don't.

I don't know know why I did go straight to the damn Monolith the first time. I did rememeber what the doctor said, but when I saw the damn Monolith I figured I'd just head for it. Guess I'm no hero D=

Actually, it's possibly the only game I've ever played that truely tests your character.

One thing I do love about the game, is the ammount of stuff you can uncover if you search hard enough, I must have played through that scrapyard fight at the start of the garbage 50 times trying out various mods and such, but only on the last one did I find a silencer hidden there.

Also the scorcher area has a few locked doors with extremely rare access codes, they only contain basic supplies but the potential for rewarding exploration in a game like this is immense, I hope it wont be the last to do such things.
