ya I know, they've been doing these types of "previews" for months now ..but there's some interesting tidbits:

- "The game encourages a Splinter Cell-like stealth approach, with noise and visibility bars in the corner of the screen"

- game takes between 40-60 hours to complete

- branching storyline that has seven different endings. The team talks about five of these being "false," while two of them are "true."

- "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. even introduces bleeding into the mix, with a trail of blood that will help both you and your enemies find each other if shot. The solution is to use bandages to cover up your wounds"

- "At night time, the fighting between the military and stalkers calms down, with both groups retreating into camps for rest. Stalkers can be found sitting around campfires, singing songs, and playing the guitar." [interupted by a well placed grenade by yours truely]

- "While S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is big on ideas, it currently looks a little dated when compared to its next-generation contemporaries."

Gotta be a fake "review". It's too good to be true.

Also, no source? That's unlike you :|

We don't need visibility bars and noise bars! Shessh!

The biggest problem is that even thougn it could be a game greater than Deus Ex, it would still get mediocre reviews because of the promises and the hype of wht could have been
Shame really

Like Starfox 64? One of the endings was "fake" while the other one was where you really won and you got to see your dad?

Everything sounds good there. I think Miyamoto said it best:

"A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever"

It sounds nice and all and will certainly tide me over until Metro 2033, what STALKER used to be, comes out.:)

I cant wait for stalker ! it sounds like fun and the gun models look big and cool just the way i like it. 40-60 hours of gameplay ??? if thats true then thats awsome.

Same ones but at a higher resolution (1280 x 960) can be found here.

looks dated my ass! cool video. I think its going to be utterly awesome.

Depends on for which crowd, for the the crowd that was a fan of the 'original' STALKER, basically the current one but with a heavy survival theme, it's still gonna be a bit of a dissappointment, with features such as vehicles, fuel, food, sleep having been taken out as needs for the player, but the fans of the game know that a large group of the original team are leaving directly after the games completion, for another company, that's doing a new game that is exactly what STALKER was originally intended to be.:D
I wonder where that'll leave patches though, with the lead coders leaving the team and whatnot.

Hadn't really read anything about this game till lately.
A little sad they took a lot of the survival characteristics out.
Still looking for a really good survival game, 1st person, something kinda like "Fallout" but maybe more modern day.

wow, looks outdated? No way... it looks fantastic. Sure there are other games that looks better, but remember our moto: Its the gameplay that counts! Sure the graphics adds up to the realism and the gameplay itself but the gameplay core itself is more important, better graphic is a plus. Hell, i even play Dungeon Keeper 1 on a regular basis because the gameplay is so much fun!

WTF the video on that site uses Half-life1 ambient music (the second song when the player walks around) also they use CS sounds a long time ago. Cant they make their own damn audio? Or is the video un-official?

I thought it looked great. I'm a fan of spacious areas.

Same here, but if all goes well, Metro 2033 will be that game, it's being done by alot of the people who did STALKER including lead devs etc, and its goal is to not remove the features that they were forced to remove from STALKER, such as eating, sleeping etc. It's set in a Post-Apocalyptic Moscow in the year 2033.:D

But it's coming to PS3 also, interface will probably suck...

Icky poo, a lot of console ports suck.
Certain games capture a portion of the survival gameplay I'd like to see.

Fallout
Morrowind Oblivion
Half Life 2
Resident Evil
CS:S - zombie mod
They Hunger

The best survival-based game I've played is URW, it's set in iron-age finland, it's shareware and not pretty at all but it has very deep gameplay.:)

I like the random way the 'wildlife' interacts, and can give you different gameplay. You'll still deal with the different critters differently, but every time you walk into a field, you won't know what's going to be there the next time.

Stalker looks just as good as almost every other game out there. And even after 142 years of waiting, I am still pumped about it.

this game looks soooo good on paper
lets hope they can deliver

I'll believe the 40 hours of gameplay when I see it :)

hope it lives up
