Stalker Latest ScreenShots, Are they slightly Copying HL2 Monsters?

sorry, to me they just look pretty much like generic zombies...
 
Well, zombies minus the headcrab, yeah. But any kind of zombie looks like that, really. Generic, as spooky said.
 
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s monsters are generic. Some of them are even fan made.

If you check their forums you can see it - look for «Monster's Ball»
 
This game is starting to look pretty good.
 
Starting to look good? I Think it's one of the best looking games ever. However these screenshots are not even in the same league as the ones we've seen

I don't think they're copying HL2. This game has been in development for a while.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Oblivion Lost is a rev. mainly because of their open forums that allow anyone to give ideas to the game.

It's amazing what they're doing it's like - «If a gamer tells us what he wants, we can have the perfect game»

They allow people to mess with the story, env. and even made the «Monsters Ball» contest that basically added 2 fan-made monsters to the game.
 
The monster reminded me of the monster/vampires(dont remember the name) in the movie "Blade 2" With the jaw thingy if you know what I mean.

To be fair, HL2's monsters look like Zerg who look like Giegers Aliens mixed with the Bugs (Starship Troopers).

Lesson: Designers 'borrow' from each other all the time, its normal and it will never end.
 
If it does look similar to Half-Life at all, I think it looks like a cross between a bullsquid and a human.

Looks like a flashlight to me? Seems to be about in the center of the screen
 
I'm a bit fed up of zombies but Stalker is still number 2 on my most wanted games list.
 
AAAAAAAAAH!!!

First Far Cry and now Stalker?! I thought both would be 1337 mercenery/rambo style games against military foes, and then someone just wreck my perception of them... Darn zombie monster games.

As Shuzer said S.T.A.L.K.E.R. had them all the time.

I agree that Far Cry was a real disapointment to have zombies and stuff like that...
 
are there any intresting physics light systems in stalker.? what engine does it use? I have no idea. its nice looking. I might go read the book its based on :)
 
Stalker, in my opinion, is going to be one of the best games this year, alongside HL2 of course. Im pumped about being able to buy your weapons and how the game will be like a giant single player mmorpg. Also the vehicles are gonna be sweet. damn i cant wait!!
 
Stalker is going to be cool, the day/night trailer had that zombie/mutant thing in it at the end. The only thing I will say about Stalker is that it might just end up being too goddamn creepy to play.
 
BAH!!! When are they going to realize that monsters and zombies and skeletons simply arent scary anymore. We see it every day, and we kill them every day. If a certain demon named Legion would exist, he'd be on the endangered species list.

No, I want TRULY scare stuff... Like seeing a 4x4 green pixel moving towards you wielding a 2x2 pixels shotgun. Or a game where all your enemies are barbie dolls. Or a game called "IKEA Furniture Assembling: The Return of The Wrench". Now THAT is scary! :O
 
MAn, these companies really need to learn about gun origin placement. From the screenies they made to much of the gun on the screen. You can see his hands the entire right side of the gun and the hands under the m16 rifle look way to big and outta praportion. Also the pistol looks like hes shooting off to the side and not infront of him.
Gun placement should be pointing towards the center of the screen. Not off just because you wanna show off the model. For some people it takes there aim off is the gun doesnt point directly ahead. Also you shouldnt see his hands in the screen at all or at least not his entire hand. I know if I was in a gun battle I would never block my line of sight so badly holding my gun like that.
They should make it like in r/l where when your running the gun is moved out to the side more and animated like your running.

When I play FPS games, I never look at the gun model. ..it wouldn't matter to me if there was NO gun model, all I look at is the crosshair, I dunno what you're on about the model position affecting your aim

Maybe he doesn't use the crosshair. I didn't when I played through Half-Life, Opposing Force (makes the red dot site on the desert eagle a hell of a lot more useful as well as fun), and Blue Shift. Having to learn how to aim makes the games harder and adds to the immersion.

Regardless if you don't use the crosshair, it's still the center of the screen notion. I used to play Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on N64 with the crosshair disabled
