Practically all 80's films were great, something that we unfortunately can't say about todays stuff.

But yeah, Stand by Me is one those films that stand high and mighty, along with the likes such as the Goonies, Lost Boys and Uncle Buck

Normally Stephen King movies are shite. This one and Shawshank are great viewing.

Although the short story is way better, the film does it justice in my opinion. The noises in the forest part... wow that was freaky for a wee bit of text.

One of the saddest deaths in Hollywood imho. River Phoenix was quickly becoming one of the greatest actors of his generation if not all-time and his life was cut short by his interest in substance abuse. Absolute shame--he was awesome in Indy 3 and The Mosquito Coast and My Own Private Idaho.

Stand By Me was a great great movie and The Body is a great great read.
