The canes' beat the oilers 3 to 1 to win the stanley cup!

Really? damn it, I was hoping for the Oilers to win it because the canes beat the Lightning. But the Lightning were playing like shit this year so whatever.

Good Lord was that some exciting hockey!! :D

P.S. Tampa was eliminated by the Ottawa Senators. ;)

Looked like the oilers was dominating there during the 3rd.

shame I was hoping edmonton would win it, but they just didn't seem to have their game face on in the first 2 periods.

The Oilers showed a lot of character. They came really close in the last 5 minutes to tie the game. Fernando Pisani was robbed by Cam Ward. After that, the Oilers never came back.

Actually what really lost the game for the Oilers was that poor 5-on-3 where they were only able to get 1 shot on net.

At least Carolina is a better team to stomach than if Buffalo had made it into the final. I'm not a Buffalo fan by any means. At least with Carolina, there's a lot of deserving players (Brind'Amour, Wesley, Weight, etc.) that have played long enough to earn the Stanley Cup.

Still unhappy that Edmonton didn't get it done. Canada's cup drought continues...

I'm a huge Oiler fan( i live there), i wanted them to win so bad so the cup legacy could be passed to my generation, great game though, not too shabby considering we wern't even suppost to make the play offs

Which is really encouraging for Leafs fans (like myself). :)

Edmonton misses the playoffs by a few points, and next season they're in the finals. What's to stop Toronto from doing the same? Or Vancouver for that matter?

Really? I went to a playoff that I thought was between thoes two teams... wasn't really paying attention after the first period tbh, that was when it was 3-0 :\

Yeah, Tampa didn't really have much of a presence in that series.

I'd hate to be a Montreal fan right now. After what happened to Koivu and the impact that had on the series, seeing Carolina win the Stanley Cup must be a little annoying. In fact I think Tampa beat Montreal on their run to win the cup last season as well.

England match starting in a few mins. Will be following it through text on BBC.

Edit - Ahem, yeah, wrong thread. Delete.

GO CANES!

representin' north carolina! :D

Funny thing is that more canadians play for the huricanes then the oilers.

Funny thing is that the cup is in the US.

For every Canadian team, there are 5 American teams. We're a little outnumbered, but that's one reason why a Cup victory by a Canadian team would be all the more special. :)

Not really. Was'nt your side responsible for Brutal Bertruzzi? Or was that someone else ... either way, I dislike Hockey for that one reason ...

...zzz...omg W000T CANES WON!!!

well i was going the canes, but because recchi won the cup will be coming back to my hometown where i hope to have another 30 seconds of fame with it.(last time recchi won the cup everyone in my town had a chance to do what they wanted with the cup for 30 seconds side from anything discusting.)

also
edmonton
canadians:21
americans:4
Euros:7

canes
canadians:11
Americans:10
Euros:7

those are just listed players, not all played in the finals, could be a few off as well because espn sucks for hockey but didnt feel like going individually through tsn profiles.

shit, there isn't even ice down here (except maybe a thin film of it on the coldest times of winter), and we won!

World cup:240
Hockey:22, we're catching up;)

Not to mention the only Canadian team that actually has a budget are the toronto mapleleafs, up until last year small market teams like the oil/van etc couldn't afford high priced veterans etc.

There isn't any ice in Florida and we won too! :O

My team (The Sabres) did not even make it into the stanley cup :(

LETS GO LIGHTNING!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!
LETS GO LIGHTNING!

Went to watch a match on holiday, very cool. How popular is Hockey in America?

it's a huge deal here, but thats because our team just won the stanley cup :p

Out of the 4 major sports in North America (Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey), the NHL is clearly 4th on the list for Americans. In fact ESPN (their main sports network) replaced their hockey brodcasts with Poker!

But thankfully, hockey is slowly getting more exposure due to relatively unknown teams like Tampa Bay and Carolina winning the Stanley Cup.
