Starcraft II new player video - Ultralisks

holy shit they make them very big and destructive

SCII is looking pretty sweet.

What kind of release date are we looking at?

Wahh, I thought it was comming out this summer some time. :(

I seriously doubt that, only because there is not even a mention for Beta yet, so they are still in Alpha. I'm guessing closer to Christmas, sadly :(

No way.

I'm still seeing a lot that they can do to the game, Atleast some time next year.

Yes, this is going to be incredbile whenever it hits. Should coincide nicely with the purchase of my new uber-rig sometime in the next 12 months (read: whenever Dragon Age releases). :D

Yeah, it seems the game is great, but they haven't revealed 100% of the units. There are still a couple hiding around, like the Swarm Guardian. So after that all happens, they will seriously buckle down on getting the balance tweaked, as that's what made SC so popular. Then come towards Q4 08, there should be a set release date, I'd imagine.

I think it looks pretty mediocre. I mean from a "changing things for the better" point of view. Starcraft is really an aged RTS, and even though it's the most played still, it's still really weak in my opinion compared to more modern offerings.

<3 ultralisks. My favourite unit along with hydralisks.

Kinda sorta agreed with Raziaar, but probably on account of sucking so much at the first one... and RTS in general...

Is it me that just finds these types of games boring as hell. How is that Sweet and awsome?

First was cute. Rest remind me of the reason I don't play it (boring as hell). Though SupCom and TA are definite awesomeness.

EDIT: just noticed post above me lol.

Are you guys serious? SC is responsible for some of my most intense game playing moments... there aren't many games that get the adrenaline going like SC.

The video might not get you excited but that because it's really just showing what a certain aspect of SC2 looks like as opposed to SC2's gameplay.

it's still really weak in my opinion compared to more modern offerings.
Like what?

I love my RTSes and a 3D version of SC is automatically sweet and awesome in my book.

Id have to agree, theyve taken the old SC and basically changed the engine and added a few new units. Not that thats any different to alot of sequels out there, but if you take away the graphics, doesnt it just become an expansion rather than a sequel???

However, SC is STILL pretty much..yeah..THE greatest RTS game of all time. And this is Blizzard, so you know they wont dissapoint, its not like they dont have the money or resources or anything..bloody WoW.

But anyway, GTA4 was/is huge, possibly already the greatest selling game of all time? Or atleast it mustve already set a few records for sales made in x time etc. I think SC2 will smash whatever records GTA4 sets.

This game is, whether we like it or not, going to be HUGE.

I'm absolutely, atrociously terrible at SC (and RTS in general) so that's my excuse for having little interest in SC2 :p

There are quite a few people who suck at the game *and other RTSs* and are loving the game :p

And hell, they aren't even adding a "few" new units. They are KEEPING a "few" units really. And as for not changing the gameplay...some old spells are now shifted to different units, they are now adding an expansion location with "gold" minerals *which do the obvious...* units that can traverse cliffs/move underground...

You complain about the game being just about the same, because you're not caring to look at all, but if you did, you'd realize you are wrong.

Plus the new map editor is going to be epic. If people think StarCraft's and Warcraft III's map editors are good the StarCraft II one is going blow people's mind with the amount of invention possible.

Oh god, from what they have been talking about, I can see myself getting lost in it with ideas, and I didn't map for either previous game.

I wish they would recreate Warcraft II in a non sucky way. I hated Warcraft III.

Warcraft II was the most memorable computer game for me. I remember when I got it in Canada, and I was reading the booklet time and time again, roleplaying in my head as we were driving back up to Alaska.

And then I played it and it was the greatest damn game ever for me then.

Korea is shutting down all power to offices and schools for the entire duration of the week that this releases to compensate for the enormous energy demands that this game will create there.

Never played the first game, don't plan on buying this one either.

I loved warcraft II as well, except for the fact both races were cookie cuttered. There is a reason StarCraft is the most popular RTS out there....

Not to mention the way you pick missions now, through a point & click adventure type system.
You'll be able to interact with characters and the like.

I honestly can't wait for this.
Starcraft is one of the few games that actually sucked me into the universe and kept me playing the SP over and over.

Yeah, the way the SP looks to follow, it looks rather fun.

I can't count how many times I've replayed the game/reread the stories. Such a great story.

I lol'd

SC2 is lookin' sweeeeet

I just found something really cool, however offtopic but it is about Starcraft 1.

My Nokia Internet Tablet (the N800) recently has just gotten a mac (up to Mac Os 8.1) emulator ported to it. The N800 is a small linux touchscreen device that can do damn near anything (skype, wireless internet, various emulators, music programs, bluetooth, movies, etc..) Anyway, you know what was the first thing I thought after hearing Mac Os can be emulated on the tablet?

Blizzard Entertainment has made there games for both Mac and Windows since forever. In other words... a fully working touchscreen version of starcraft!!!

menber here play the first one multiplayer? cuz I was thinking about getting the game again and play whit some

Nearly everybody here plays Starcraft from time to time.

Me, Taviow, and Sliver(Django) play it religiously atm.
