Those of you who have never heard of these shows can totally ignore this thread.

Contradictory to what the title implies this thread is not meant to be a comparison of the two, but can be.
Instead I have a question for SG1/Atlantis fans.

In the latest episode of Atlantis you learn that the ancients created the replicators. Which they then decided to destroy, but failed to destroy all of them. This would suggest that the replicators in our galaxy (in SG1) migrated from the Pegasus Galaxy. However that contradicts an old SG1 episode in which SG1 finds a planet on which the citys were ravaged. They then find an android on the planet and take her back to earth, only then discovering that she is capable of creating replicators, which she calls pets. That episode would lead to the conclusion that she was the sorce of the replicators.

So the question is are they both plausible or did the writers F*** up?:hmph:

i am a fan of both, but lately, i havent been watching the series, so i have no idea of what you speak of

I vote stargate movie.

Seconded, I personally hate the show.

Firefly spoiled me with gorgeous and believable visuals, and Grade A acting.

The movie Stargate was good though. :D

Well I personally liked both SG1 and the movie, Atlantis not so much, I've only seen a few episodes then I lost interest. The thing with the replicators is just ridiculous. Remember the Asgard or what were they called, the aliens that were helping Earth in SG1? Well if they were so damn advanced why couldn't they just disintegrate all the replicators and that's that, end of story. It was just lame that with all their advanced technology they couldn't do much, but then SG1 comes in and they are like: "We are teh saved!!! LOLZ 11".

Man I feel like a nerd now:dork: .

I thought the Asgard were meant to be too advanced too defeat the Replicatooors and that only SG-1's projectile guns worked on em?

Movie: Too long ago to remember
SG1: Watch it ocationaly, good enough
Atlantis: Saw it a few times, didn't like it

And Evo was right, the Asgard couldn't think up weapons basic enough to kill them or something silly like that.

And on the original post's topic, sounds like the writers ****ed up.

Then replicators in the Milky way were different, I'm pretty sure b/c they came from the asgard homeworld's system wherever that is...

Stargate Movie of course.
The series is crap.
I hope that they release a sequel worthy of the original and ruin the series continuity while they're at it.

Ok I've liked Stargate SG1 for a long time and still watch it. Where I live the John Crichton just came aboard and the crappy "Ori" enemy aren't the best, but it's still ok, hopefully it improves. Macguyver really pulls the show together in all honesty.

Atlantis was the opposite for me, I've only seen 1 season here but I didn't really like it initially, thought the characters sucked. But it's grown on me, the characters work well and the writing seemed to be getting better. The wraith are reasonble enemies and some of the episodes have reminded me of what SG1 used to be like.

I like both equally.

Love SG-1. One of my guilty pleasures. Atlantis sucks though. The replicator thing you mentioned is just another sign that the Atlantis writers can't think up there own storylines to save their lives.

Writer 1: "Okay, we have two weeks till we start filming the next expisode. Any ideas."

Writer 2: "We haven't seen the replicators in awhile, lets use them."

Writer 3: "But aren't they all dead."

Writer 2: "We can make new ones. Lets just say the ancients built them, the ancients built everything."

Writer 1: "GENIUS!"

Writer 3: "Then we could throw in a few scenes with General Hammond on Earth discussing the politics of gate travel. That should fill up the leftover time."

Writer 1: " Now all we have to do is write in a few scenes with Ronin shooting aliens in slow motion and were down."

Writer 2: "And people said writing for TV would be hard."

When ben browder hopped on the band wagon, it just wasn't as good anymore. I liked him in Farscape, but in SG1 he's just sort of eh. It's gotten to be that I like Atlantis more.

I absolutely loved Stargate SG1 up until the last few seasons. Now I think they should just let the show die.

Cant stand Atlantis.
