My computer seems to have developed a problem starting and I wanted to see if anyone could help me fix it. For the past two days when I have turned my computer on, all the fans start and everything but I get nothing on my monitor (not even the screen with the press whatever to go into bios). I can hear some sort of quiet spinning noise, similar to a hard drive or cd drive spinning up, and it seems to spin up and spin down three times and then it just sounds normal, but still does not boot up. If I press the reset button, it does exactly the same thing, but if I hold the power button and turn it off and back on it boots and behaves normally (in fact I'm using it now). I don't know what it could be, but I hope someone here does.

Another unrelated problem, my CRT monitor seems to have a few stuck pixels now, after I put my 9800 pro in. One of the pixels stays black all the time, but if I look at the others from different angles they can seem to be normal. Is this my monitor or video card and is there anything I can do to fix it?

System specs:
Athlon XP 2400+
Gigabyte GA-7VTXE+
Radeon 9800 pro
Samsung 80 gig hdd

Thanks for any help.

you got a power molex plugged into ur g card? the wierd pixel thing is ur monitor...

Andy

Yes, I have a power connector plugged into my graphics card, when this problem first happened I thought it was the video card so I reseated it and unplugged and pulgged the molex back in.

It could be the a loose connection between molex connectors.

It's a CRT and it has a stuck pixel? hehe Usually LCDs get those but hardly CRTs.
I would agree though, it would be your monitor and not the card.

I un and replugged all the molex connectors and my comp started normally. I think it's fixed now, thanks Asus! I'll try calling the place I got this monitor from and see if it qualifies for replacement or not.
