Valve's stats page has the new maps on it now.

http://steampowered.com/status/tf2/tf2_stats.php

Not surprisingly, Steel is the most played unofficial map, and Badwater seems slightly more favorable to BLU then Goldrush, which is a nice factoid.

The stats for the arena map round times are broken, though, and of course Heavy is the most played class at the moment, Scout's still last though.

Thoughts?

Thats pretty good :D

Arena times are ****ed up though

Lol, 400 minutes

Oy, Steel confuses me so much. I need a map of the layout or something - it seems like half the points don't have any route connecting them that doesn't go through one of the bases.

Steel is one annoying map, people only argue about what plan to take first, either go to A and cap all/most of them before E, or moving around the back to straight to E.

Usually BLU just gets to C or D before they take over E. Or RED wins. I've only seen it happen once that BLU won before getting C.

TF2Wiki has a nice summary of what capturing each CP does:

I also recall seeing a detailed map on the Steam Forums, but I'll be damned if I can find it now.

It comes with experience, mostly, just like when Badlands came out.

Ditto.
Nice to see there's more balance in red vs blu wins in the new pl.

I lol'ed at the sniper having risen to the top of the points per hour graph, what with all those Heavy's around.

I'm thinking that the stats are fine, what was (is?) broken was that sometimes arena games wouldn't start, everyone would be in the "waiting to play" mode. Almost like TF2 thought there was a round in progress which, with no people, couldn't end.

I love Steel. The outcomes to the map have been hugely varied each time I've played in contrast to Valve's pl_ maps, which are still great but which tend to degenerate into just a couple of variations on the same old killbox/chokepoint battles.

Steel, in contrast, is nice and unpredictable. With Blue winning, I've seen a few games that have been fought right through to the last cap at E, but I've also seen blue win just after capping C, just after capping A, and once even before A was capped (that one was largely my doing). For Red, I've seen successful defences of B, C, and a couple of times E. It's nice to go into a map without being sure where the most important fighting is going to be.

I found the map!

Nice map. Everything about Steel can be learnt in-game, of course, but reading this could be a useful shortcut for people.

Sniper rifle has very low percent of critical attacks. Is that because they're otherwise removed or because the charged critical (when zoomed in) doesn't 'count' as a critical hit?

Syringe gun is in second-to-last place for critical hits... even more incentive to use the Blutsauger (whose tradeoff is no crits).

Wrench is highest in percent of crits, which I guess I didn't even think about. Engineers kill me a LOT with one hit from their wrench.

pl_goldrush apparently has something about it that makes it favor the blue team. This seems like something they'll address in an update, no?

Is it just me, or is it tricky to place the gameplay map to those overviews? It took a minute to figure out where the death zone (marked in red) on the pl_goldrush map was. Good tactical info though.

I've never played Steel. Sounds like a good map?

I get crits so often, I used to think hitting a disguised spy with the wrench was an automatic crit. It sure seems like it.

Of course scout is least played. With so many damn Heavies its impossible for anyone but an elite scout to survive. That's not exactly rocket science.

It was like that before the Heavy update for some time, IIRC. Either scout or spy should get the next unlocks.

What's with the range of the fireaxe? That is, it's apparently better than SMG, Syringe Gun and the Scattergun. Pyros hitting their burning victims with the fireaxe before they flee perhaps?

Ah god yes... that reminds me of a time in 2 fort, i of course having a sentry in the intel room, for some reason my entire team didn't notice me repeatedly alerting them that there was a spy, so i was on my own. It was funny because i was the only one down there, so i would whack everyone who came in with my wrench and it'd ALWAYS be that same Spy over and over. He never did get the intel, and if he did my sentry would blast him.
