I love Commandos, but it's not a really repayable game (this goes for 1, 2 and 3, I refuse to acknowledge Strike Force as a Commandos game.)

Other then Desperadoes, are there any other stealth games like this?

Man I loved Commandos 2. Never finished it though :-/ I think I lost one of the discs. Got to a level where there were elephants.

The only thing I hated about any of the game was timed mission (only in number 3, iirc), Commandos is a game that needs to be slowly planned out and everything, I hate rushing.. Well I like rushing in some missions, but I hate just losing the mission and restart if I don't do it all in a set amount of time.

Those are the only games I know of - Commandos & Desperados.

Although, I figured that if you steal 5+ guns, you can just hide around a corner and press X, then fire one round with another character, then the entire map charges towards you and your guy will just automatically shoot them all when they turn the corner. Not exactly stealthy.

Yea, it's basically the exact same as number 1, except stuff like knockout and handcuffs are added.

Robin Hood: (something) of Sherwood, by far the ultimate iteration of 2D Commandos concept. It has everything Desperados had and does it better. Apart from convenience UI changes (such as automatic tying up) it has a variety of side missions and (what's best) you are given an actual base you operate out of, which also provides supplies for your commandos. And it has a selectable roster. And...

Basically, it's the best 2D Commandos game out there.

Commandos 2 is great, though I hate how nearly every mission can be solved by going in shooting.

Wait until you get further, one shot off and you get patrolling tanks, atleast 30-40 guys come from each occupied building, etc.

Even then. The last Paris mission was a ****ing cakewalk once I decided that the Germans were unfit to live... and simply made a dash for the Panzer IV.

god now I feel like re-installing that game. *sigh*

out of curiosity anyone ever successfully used the multi screen option in the game?... I tried it briefly but found that the fact you had to click on a window first to make it active, made it too cumbersome to bother.

I 'got' Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood, and it's fantastic. Way better then Commandos so far. Only one problem - it's slow (not the gameplay or anything, the actual game). I know it's because it's an old game, but wow.. Sort of detracts from the experience when it takes 5+ seconds to scrolls a few inches. Luckily the maps aren't too big. I also find it lags when I leave the enemy sight triangle thing on.. I usually have to look quick then turn it off.

The combat in this game is awesome, too. It reminds me of a DS or something, you draw a circle to make your guy do a spin move, draw a slash across the enemy to make him slash the enemy, click the guy (or draw a dot) to stab, then right click to block. Pretty cool.

I also like how you can get more merry men if you don't kill people, instead leave them alive, and I also like the HQ thing, and you can choose your quests, assign your crew to carious jobs (herb collecting, coin pouch making, net making, combat training, archery training, fletching arrows and what-not). Very awesome and well done game, other then the slow-ness.

Each guy also has his own abilities (like heal, imitate a beggar (you can pay real beggars to give you info about the current level, too. You get money throughout the levels, and can use it to buy info or to throw it and distract guards), knockout, archery, whistling, etc), very cool.

I recommend it to Commandos fans (you get used to the slow scrolling, but I thought it was worth a mention).
