Whats everyones opinion over buying the game over steam or in the stores....I kinda would like to have the box and cd's....

I think most people here will buy over Steam, to support Valve and screw over VUG, which is what I'm doing. You could always burn the files you download off Steam.

I would like to have the box and cd's (or dvd's) but we'll see how much the steam versions are.

I would like to buy it from Steam and screw over VUG, but I have a THING for boxes and cds...

im buying the box because i cant leave my computer to preload
because once i get off the computer, my sister is on

Some people don't care.

I'd like to have the CD's though, but I've got nothing against buying off steam. Indeed I bought CZ off steam and it went smoothly. So it seems that buying off steam is pretty safe.

Only concern I would have is if my internet went down for a while and my HL2 wasn't working I wouldn't have CD's to reinstall with

If i preload the game and decide to get the cd's, will that mess up the game?

Just burn the cache files to a CD.

Well, that and buying over Steam seems to be a significantly better deal. The retail Collector's Edition, for example, is an absolute joke compared to Steam's Gold edition.

i just cansiled my boxed preorder from EBgames. hope that asnwers your question. :p

Nope, you just have to enter your CD key, and you can just go ahead and start playing with barely any install time. :)

Getting CE through the mail. Ordering it through Steam as well so I can play the second it comes out. I'm planning on giving the other key to a friend of mine at work who is "less fortunate" than me. :)
