I was in the Steam Beta's and they were (IMO) not so good. Then I got the Release version 1.0 and had MANY problems with that. I stopped using it because theres just way to many problems. To be honest I prefer to have the regular CD versions installed. I think it's much more cooler. To have a nice seperate icon and stuff for each of the games, rather then have all clutered in the Steam list. Valve has plans to put Blue Shift and Gunman Chronicles into Steam. If they do that and then fix all the known bugs then I may consider using Steam. As of right now I'm not interested. Anyways I was wondering what your perspective on Steam is at the moment?

Steam works just great for me at the moment and has since Steam Beta 1, way back when.

TBH, I would actually like it if more games were on Steam, it can be intensly irritating to install a game and find you have to go track down some patches to get it to work online.

They are suppose to be adding Blue Shift and Gunman Chronicles to Steam. Probably when they get Condition Zero and Half-Life 2 out the door.

I like Steam.

It works fine for me, and the best is: It works under Linux (with WINE) :D

It actually works in Linux? Thats cool didn't think Wine would run it. I'll have to give it a go. Thats Cool! Also cool to see a Linux fan for a change.

You can create desktop shortcuts to any of the games on Steam, BTW, so it's not like you're forced to pick from the "Games" browser inside Steam

Steam went through a rollercoaster, initially it was good, the cached release was horrid and now it's slowing becoming good again :cheese:

steam crashes my computer now!!!! i have reloaded it twice but still comes up with a "this program has performed an illigal act and will close"

u may probably need to un-install this current copy u have and download the cache file(s) and install again.

it also depends on ur options.. do u have it on automatic updates? do u also have it set up run at windows startup?

anyway.. looks like a re-install is in order..

good luck :)
