Christ, the stupids have descended upon this thread. HL2 DM / LC are 'free' only to people who have purchased Half-Life 2. Simply having Steam on your computer doesn't entitle you to them, unless you have an ATI card.

Hang on a minute... what would happen if someone without an ATI card logs into steam on a friends computer who has got one?

I believe the phrase would be "natch". Or "VROOM VROOM".

This is quite cool. My dad's pc has an ATi card so I'll get to play my bro at HL2M for nowt

Edit: How come no one has pointed out the price reductions for ATi users? They're a bigger deal imo. HL2 is $20 instead of 30, Ep1 is 10 instead of 20, and both together is 25. ?5 for Ep1, talk about a good deal!

Ah. I see. I was always under the impression that you needed HL2 installed to be able to run Lost Coast & Deathmatch.

You can have a Steam account without Half-Life 2, there are other games on Steam

Valve know better than us who owns what on their 13 million steam accounts. I think we'd be surprised how many people don't own HL2 on Steam.
