Steam games go crazy, and Mouse and Keyboard lag in games.

My pc is way above the requirements.

The problem (1): When I try to play a Steam game, It launches. But when the game is done loading, it starts to act all crazy. It minimizes, maximizes, minimizes again, ect, until I end task hl2.exe (all my steam games use hl2.exe, so it inst just Half Life 2 I'm talking bout) Never happened before.

The problem (2): When I try to play any game, a few minuets into it, I get mouse and keyboard lag. It stats out like, when I push the w key, it goes forward, in 1 second, ect. The more I use the keyboard and mouse, the worse it gets. Never happened before


I have NOT got anything new recently for my pc. Drivers are updated.

Your first problem sounds like there's a popup window that's trying to get your attention (usually a firewall or virus scanner)

Your second problem sounds like you're running out of resources on your computer. Check your processor usage in windows (not when css is running) and RAM consumption. Seems like a rogue program is eating up all your CPU time.

Well for some reason, I always have a firefox.exe running under the processes tab. When I start up Firefox, there is two.

Nope, when I play my games, I close all that stuff.

I know EXACTLY what your problems are. Both mine and my son's PC are experiencing the same problem. We're both using Vista 32bit ultimate.

Problem 1. To get around it, sometimes I just let the loading to finish. Dont press ESC to skip the intros.

Problem 2. It seems every keystroke will trigger a beep in the PC. It sounds like when you press backspace and there is nothing more to delete. Computer beeps until you let go of the keystroke. I dont know how to fix this problem. It comes on randomly and the only way to get rid of it is to leave the game. Both of us are using USB keyboards and mice. It only happens in steam games.

Do you have any solutions to these problems? I don't even know what's causing it. Both of my PC's are way over the recommended specs.
