steam gift certificate

i'm sure this has been asked before but i'm tired :/

will there be in-store equivalents of the steam offers? i'd like to buy a friend of mine the 'silver' package.. would i need to do that through steam? are there gift-certificates for that or something? or will there be a silver pack instores when hl2 is released?

You could always create a new account and buy it for him/her, then give that account to them... would that work? Or is downloading it a problem...

In-store? I doubt it. Steam is designed to work around the entire brick & mortar retail store system.

Maybe buy an ATI voucher off ebay, and the upgrade it to silver for him?

I'm not really sure how to go around this... best way is to buy retail I guesss...

download and burn all the cache files to cd's/ dvd and give 'em the cd as well as the new account info, all in a lovely cd case. It'd be hawt.
