holy sh it

i click on cs icon in games menu

wait for 1-2 hours

then this bitch error comes up saying all these numbers and then at the end of the error it says

STEAM TO BUSY

o yahh i tried all the other games to and it says the same thing

wtf is this please

i want steam beta back

that wasnt my question i wanted to know if this was happening to any one else and i was wondering how to fix the error

...You "want" them to fix an error for something that's not even completed yet?...:/
(Steam)

Make sure you disable the 'Automaticaly update this game' option on ALL the games in your list. This will reduce the amount of bandwidth Steam will use and make things load faster for you and everyone else. No point in updating a game constantly that you will never play.

Step 1) Set counter-strike to constantly remain updated
Step 2) Wait a day, or until the Montior windows shows that you are no longer downloading CS
Step 3) Play CS with no wait

What's so hard to understand?

Steam is too busy, the content servers are overworked. Wait a few days until it dies down, it's unavoidable at the moment.

i only have the "always update" option on three games dod halflife and cs.

I let Steam run overnight, and in the morning CS was all ready for me.

i just clicked on the cs icon then it says preparing to play cs for like 2 hours and then it says that error

there was never this problem with the beta

Read the replies. The Steam Content servers are overstrained, either set CS to update automatically and leave it or just try again tomorrow.

am i going to have to wait tell like 1:00 in the morning to play cs

Unless everyone else stops trying to update at the same time, you are going to have to wait a bit.

Be Patient.

hero, ever see charlie and the chocolate factory?

no but ill go watch it tell i can play cs

How could you have not seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (not Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is the sequal to come out sometime in the near future). That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my entire life. It's classic Gene Wilder, you should be watching that first and foremost.

Man, I can't even get into the damn thing. It just says its updating and then shuts off. This started happening on Wed., how do I fix it?

Kinda worries me about how slow Steam will be initially during the HL2 release. Thank God the box copy will allow for offline play at first, which I will definately be doing.

I'm thinking about even unistalling steam (and editing it out of my registry) just to make sure it's not going to hinder my enjoyment. I wouldn't want to install the game to have in auto-detect Steam and subsequently require authentication. Atleast not until a week after the release.

I suspect those who choose the subscription or download via Steam options are going to be alittle disappointed at first. It should improve over time, but initially I expect even more lag than we're experiencing now.

Funny.

I think the Nvidia banner ad in Steam is pretty ironic as well.

Steam: "The way it was meant to be played."

zoso, i completely agree, willy wonka is a good film. hero kinda reminds me of veruca salt.
