steam issues

i am having issues with steam, when i install it on a hard drive it will update and look as if it is working perfectly. but when i click on play games so i can download half life 2 it stops responding, i tried to install it on my other hard drive. i reformatted to see if that would help, but it keeps doing the same thing. does anyone know how to fix this issue?

i had the same problem before, i had no clue what I did but I just let steam sit and eventually Play Games came up. After that it came up just fine and still is.

edit: try right clicking on the icon in the corner and click Play Games instead of from the main menu.

i agree with gweedodoggg69, give it time, try lots of time, about 15minutes max, it should work.
it might seem it isnt reponding, but it really is very busy

thanks for the help guys! it works now. All i have to do now is wait 7 hours for hl2 to download, crappy dsl service
