Sorry if this is been mentioned before. I thought this was the forum to post it in, by the way.

Back on topic: When I choose to watch HL2 Movies on Steam, I get the following message (see attachment):

"The game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time."

Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks. :)

I already knew about this before I made this thread. I only wanted to know why Valve has disabled the option of getting to watch the movies via Steam?

It's usually something to do with the content servers not being up.

perhaps it's simply a bug, hopefully one that will be corrected when the full steam version is released

I've got that too. Steam errorlogs reveal....

Error:CJoinGameDialog::OnSteamError() : launch game failed, with steam error:
SteamProcessCall(WaitForAppReadyToLaunch,0xab0004,0x165fc04,0x165fd0c) failed with error 1: No Content Servers available for this application

Function trace:

Apparently a whole load of Steam content servers are down... I guess we just have to wait: http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=status

I see. Thanks guys. Also, why are some of the content servers down?

P.S. Holly crap those replies came fast. These forums must be getting flooded by people by the minute!!!

i dono, i get the same message. they're probably took them off the server in preporation of the full version of steam comming up. thats just a guess though

EDIT: omg that was fast! the forums need to always be this busy!

Yeh, i probably should have quoted that... ah well

Yeh, I have the same problem right now. I checked so see about Steam's status, and there were a LOT of servers down. There was still plenty of bandwidth left though, so I don't get what's goin on. Not only did I have trouble viewing the videos through Steam, I had trouble logging on. It took me 4 tries.

I guess only the high bandwidth Gamestorm servers were hosting the vids, and they're all down.

Calm down peoples. It'll either be routine server maintenance, they're uploading new content i.e. movie, or they're just updating the servers for Wedensday.

Why? What's happening on Wednesday? Sorry I don't keep up with Steam events. Is it the big reset?

Doug Lombardi:

Steam Beta Ends, Full Version Ships Next Week

The Steam Beta has delivered several Valve games and popular Half-Life MODs to over 300,000 gamers, and will come to a close Tuesday evening (Pacific Daylight Time). The first full version of Steam, Valve's broadband platform for the delivery and management of digital content, will launch at 11 am PDT on Wednesday. Set up installers for the full version, which will be free of charge to existing Half-Life and Counter-Strike players, will be available from www.steampowered.com and leading game sites. Anyone interested in hosting the installer or becoming a Steam Service Provider, please email [email protected].

Valve would like to extend its thanks to everyone who participated in this beta.

Thanks for the info, Chris_D. Quick question: they can only find out from CD Keys that you are an existing CS or HL2 player, correct? :D
