We've been pretty quiet about Day of Defeat: Source in the last few weeks. But new information and images from DoD: Source will be made available starting next week, as we lead to its release. We've been steadily working away on this project, and we're excited to see what everyone thinks of what we've produced.
In the coming weeks we'll also be releasing a Source revived version of Half-Life 1: Deathmatch. People who already own Half-Life 1: Source will receive this as a free download.

Next Saturday, Valve's CEO and founder, Gabe Newell, will be giving the commencement speech at Southern Methodist University's Guildhall, a university program offering course work in game design. Two groups of students enrolled in the program will be releasing the Source MODs they produced during their term. More information on the games they've built is available on their websites:

Eclipse: http://students.guildhall.smu.edu/eclipse/
Samurai Legends: http://students.guildhall.smu.edu/samurailegends/

Eclipse looks like Guild Wars with slightly more detail. :)

Good news that we will be getting new news soon. Also I agree with you about the look of the game. I think this is one of the better looking mods I have seen so far especially for the ammount of time put into it (although they might have class time too). I think I will download it even for the graphics.

Hl1dm Source!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neat, now when will they make hl1 source availible for independent purchase over steam?

Jesus, those mods look stunning :O

Edit: How come that, even that they have so much media updates on their site, I didn't see a single post of it on the newspage? :(

Best Update News Ever

Cant wait to try HL1DM: Source, HLSource was my fav Half Life game ever, DM will be amazing :D

And New DODSource info next week, wow, when I get back from my holiday, im going to have so much kl stuff on Steam to muck about with

i guessing they kept it quiet until it was finished or nearly finished....

thing is cos these guys are students and this is their project they can actually work on this 24/7 - not only that, but they are also all together on campus working probably in the same room/halls whatever which is a lot easier than the traditional MOD method - coordinating like 20 or so people across the internet that you have never met - its all about productivity mate ;)

I was gonna say HDR for the pic, but then saw the zero water reaction to the brightness. Must be a well placed picture of bloom. Plus, what's with no "reflect all?" Valve even did it in the Lost Coast vid. They're holding out!

You can see the bloom effect in HL2.

If you want to DISCUSS IT, post it in the NEWS section.

...now there's a post that has no reason to exist

This thread has no reason to exist, but it has a reasoon to exist in the NEWS section...

Not everyone has Steam or is going to restart it just to see some news updates.

That's like saying why read news from HL2.net when you can easily go browse mod sites to find it. And besides, I posted it first.

You can't just go and post news in the News forum anyway. Only Content Writers can.

Which is why I said "it must be a well placed picture of bloom." Do you agree that it does look slightly more saturated?
