Steam problem

Whenever I start up steam it allows me to enter my password but then says "could not connect, either steam network is down, or your not connected to internet"

So...does Steam work for anyone? I am getting the same problem, but apparently Steam is "online."

What does this mean? I downloaded Steam with CS about day after it was released and I've only ever got to the message about 'could not connect, either steam is down, or you're disconnected'. Is this just a bandwidth issue, so shall I just keep trying? Or would a reinstall help?

Try with having the 'Save Password' button unchecked.

my steam work OK but my non steam games will not load or play....
