That's the steam coming out of my ears
I have had no end of troubles trying to get this game to run and in the end decided to format and start again. Now, when I try to run the game it says my CD key is used in another account. Of course it f***** is, I had to open one to try to play the damn game in the first place!!!!

Now according to the support site, my only option is to send my CD to the US (I'm in the Netherlands) and it could take 3-4 weeks for delivery.

So, after taking my 60 Euros for a game that won't work, I have to be without it for 3-4 weeks. I know they are trying to stop piracy but all this crap is going far too far and ripping off /pissing off, genuine buyers. I'll say this...I will NEVER EVER buy another game that Steam is involved in!!! :sniper:

No F****** wonder there is no direct e-mail link to Steam. I reckon their e-mail server would crash due to all the complaints they recieve!!! :flame:

Don't make a NEW ACCOUNT.
Use the account YOU HAD BEFORE.

Describe exactly what you did to install the game, what was wrong before formatting it, and what you did after formatting.

I did the same as the the first time (before the format) and when I git to the verification part it stated that my CD key was being used by another account.

Try this,
Go to Register Game I already own
Type in your cd-Key.

Ok when he ment describe you don't just say "Same as the first time" we don't know what you did the first time.

Ok after you install and startup steam and it updates.
Then you login.
What happens?

Try going to Browse Games -> Register game I already own.

How on earth could anyone have a "Say YES to Steam!" tag, unless of course it is sarcasm?

As I said in my first post. Insatlled the game tried to play it. More detail. Installed. It asked me for my account name, pass word etc. Stared to update, then stopped with the message this CD key is already registered to another account!

Let me get this straight; Have you tried signing into steam with the account you had before you reformatted and then double clicking on hl2?
